From entry to exit a wonderful experience. Arriving and parking right outside so not far to walk. On entry it was exactly as Holly, maitre d' / proprietor, described on their website informal and non elitist, fun. Warm and jolly staff. The food was divine and we took a moment to take in the artwork on a plate before tucking in. The waiters were great and very knowledgeable about all their produce and dishes. And the service was first class. Brad, Head chef/ proprietor, is working magic with the 90% locally sourced foods, it's why you go to restaurants of this high calibre. Could not praise and recommend this restaurant enough.

My partner treated me to a meal at Carter's for a special occasion. The muted, modern decor set the scene perfectly for a sophisticated dinner, and we were greeted warmly by the staff.

The tasting menu was full of surprising little twists, and the fantastic starter snacks set the bar very high, ultimately being our favourite part of the meal. The Ogelshield Gougeres were unbelievably good. Also notable were the gins we sampled - we tried Hammer (dry) and Monkey 47 (fragrant) - teamed with the BTW natural tonic which added a small yet memorable touch to the drink selection.

Full credit to the staff for being attentive, informative and knowing the details and descriptions of the menu inside out!

I would recommend this place for couples or close friends looking for an intimate ambiance to celebrate a special occasion. Take a warmer layer - it did feel slightly too cool, although the waiters were immediately on hand to boost the heat. Parking is fantastic - we parked right in front of the entrance, so no problems with accessibility.

My partner took me to carters for my birthday after hearing good things about it. It did not disappoint, the staff were very welcoming and informative, talking us through each course and providing advice on wine. We had the 8 course tasting menu and each course was fantastic. For a Michelin star this is also excellent value. Can't wait to go back

This restaurant has been on our radar for a little while so we were delighted that it more than lived up to expectations. A young ambitious team deliver exceptional food wine and coffee with personal and enthusiastic service.

The food is incredibly well conceived and executed. Each course is understated with no more than 2 or 3 standout components. The emphasis is local and the staff all understand the ethos of the cooking.

Standout dishes include the tomato starter, the turbot and the wonderful cheese course.

The wine is as challenging as you might want it to be.....We expressed an interest in trying some different styles and were treated to some great old and new world wines, always with a sample offered before we committed.

Coffee was also great, being pour over rather than the typical espresso.

All in all a highly memorable and unique restaurant and a credit to the whole team. We expect this place to go from strength to strength and be amongst the best of the UKs more progressive restaurants eg lyles, story, casamia. Keep it up guys!!!

I visited Carters for the first time with my husband on Tuesday. This restaurant is small but exquisite. The service is outstanding, the food a marvel. It's expensive, for us a very special occasion place, but you get what you pay for. The loveliest part was that we both tried things we would never have thought to order had it not been part of a set menu. We also tried the wine pairing, we tasted wines we wouldn't normally touch, such as sparking white and was surprised when we both enjoyed it. A wonderful experience. Thank you.
