Stayed at this hotel on a weekend night with my partner as we were heading to an event at the NIA. This hotel is quite unusual and good if you want something a bit different.
The rooms are very small, with no wardrobe space and many do not have windows. I would pay the extra couple of pounds for a window to be honest! Ideal for a one night stay really due to the lack of space. However the bed was very comfortable and the wet room was amazing! The entrance to the wet room is glass and not very private which felt a bit odd so feel comfortable with who you stay with!!
Good quiet location, around the corner from a square with a few bars and restaurants. Took about 15 mins to walk to the bullring with the main shops and about the same to the NIA. Street parking is free on a Saturday night and Sunday outside the hotel. Good value for money and recommend a short stay here!

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and we’re happy to hear that you both enjoyed your stay with us. BLOC was designed for guests who need a short stay in the city at a great price without having to compromise on style or comfort, and it sounds like you have really understood the concept. Just to let you know nearly half of the hotel have rooms with windows and if you are staying during the week you can take advantage of the discounted parking at our local NCP – only £5.50 for 12 to 24 hours. We hope to see you again soon & thank you once again!

I s I stayed on 6th Jan as a couple in the windowless double room. I already knew from other reviews that it was a cubicle style hotel and that is exactly what you get. It's a large double bed (comfy) and a nice shower (located in a wet room). If you want more detail of how the room is keep reading.
There is no wardrobe, however there are 3 coat hooks and a hanger to place ur clothes on and a great floor to ceiling mirror. There is a tv which is placed in the wall opposite the bed so you can watch tv whilst in bed. There is a showeroom with a great shower and lovely interior, this wet room contains a toilet, face mirror, sink (bar of soap, plastic cup and body and hand wash) and a bin. The cleanliness is impeccable as there is also a floor to ceiling mirror on one wall in the wet room which was spotless when we went in. You will really feel clean when you shower there. Note that instead of walls dividing the wet room from the rest of the room there is a floor to ceiling wall whith a frosted portion to provide a little bit of privacy (this isn't adequate for tall people as you really can see right into the toilet). Lastly, the wet room is accoustically transparent, you can carry a conversation from the bed to the toilet seat with ease which also means other 'toilet' noises will be heard by who you are with. There is also adjustable air conditioning and a small bedside table and cushioned stool provides a little space for a laptop and the shower was great. All in all the room was great and perfect for rest and relaxation and as much as you might want more, it really delivers on everything it prom I s I stayed on 6th Jan as a couple in the windowless double room. Bloc is a stylish boutique hotel. Their room prices are reasonable. Staff very friendly and helpful. I stayed In BLOC for a night as it was close to the Indian consulate in Birmingham. I felt comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended.

I've been here twice now and it's well worth the visit! I was made to feel welcome from the moment I walked in through the front door!
The room is as expected for the price. There is no real storage/hanging space but as I only stayed there for 2 nights this wasn't a problem!
Now for the best bit...the shower/wet room! Absolutely amazing! I didn't want to get out!
Give this place a go as I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised! I know I can't wait to visit again!

What a great review! Our Monsoon Drench showers are still amazing our guests & becoming the most talked about feature in our rooms (Don’t worry BLOC Gatwick’s showers will be just as good if not even better!) We can’t wait to welcome you back and thank you for taking the time to write this review it’s greatly appreciated!

The Bloc describes itself as a boutique budget hotel, but don't let that fool you into expecting the usual 'cheap-and-cheerful' standards and decor. Everything within the Bloc's carefully designed interior speaks of quality and comfort: from the sumptuous Egyptian cotton sheeted king-sized bed nestled within its own leather-padded and sound-proofed 'sleep-zone' to the careful mood lighting and the monsoon drench shower and wet-room.

True, the rooms themselves are very compact (which might prove a problem if travelling with excessive amounts of luggage) but if you travel light, their comfort and style makes them a very pleasant alternative to the usual budget hotel alternative.

An ideal

Stayed at this hotel after a Christmas party and it provided everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Rooms are compact but clear so ideal if you only need somewhere to sleep. Make sure you only share a room with someone you know really well - the bathroom door is pretty much just a glass screen so privacy is limited! Would stay again.

The second time we've stayed in recent months. We will be back again :) Location is great, nice and quiet in the Jewellery Quarter but there are still restaurants and bars nearby. Park at the nearby NCP carpark and you get a discount from the hotel.
Rooms are more like a cabin in a yacht and fairly small but the layout is well thoughout. Worth every penny! I'd happily pay more!
Finish of the rooms is very nice ultra modern with a tv imbedded in the foot end of the bed/wall, aircon is handy as the windows don't open but keeps things nice and cool. The bathroom is a wet room all in one type of affair with rain shower head and standard removable shower head. the bed is comfortable and large and overall it's a great hotel for a couple of nights. Simply the best!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Bloc hotel is located in Birminghams Jewellery Quarter. The village atmosphere created by its cafes-bars and restaurants is complemented by the business-shopping-arts and sports facilities that are also on its doorstep. We have taken loose inspiration from Japanese pod style hotels which means much larger rooms more akin to a cabin on a luxury yacht with finishes and fittings to match. The rooms are equipped with a King Size Double Bed-luxurious linen-climate control-wet room with monsoon drench shower-Samsung 32inch led flat screen TV and high speed WIFI. Birmingham is of course a centrally located travel hub and for many of our visitors that will be the most important factor in just how quickly and conveniently they can access the motorway network-national rail and international flights. ... more   less
