The rooms are small but you wouldn't know it... contemporary modern mixed with a Japanese style pod!

Good set up, very comfy bed and pillows were great!

Only disappointment was the window just had a blind so didn't keep all the street lights out, plus it was quite noisy in the hotel as the rooms didn't tend to keep noise out.

Walk in shower wet room was unique, but weird showering in the toilet almost, but rainfall shower was lovely. Only problem being the floor is then wet if you want to go in after.

You get money off some local restaurants as they have no restaurant themselves. Try Urban Cafe for breakfast, or the Saint Kitchen at St Paul's two mins down the road looked really good.

Dear Brett

It is good to see from your review of your stay with us at BLOC Hotel Birmingham that you loved the BLOC style and particularly found the King-sized bed and luxury pillows provided you with the level of comfort that you were after. Our Vista rooms have windows with blinds which are designed to keep all the light out, so I will investigate to see whether the blind in your room was functioning properly. Our standard Sleep rooms are windowless so if you stayed in one of them you would be guaranteed not to have any street light seeping in, if that is something that would suit you better.

I'm pleased that you really enjoyed the fabulous monsoon shower, the floor of the wet-room does remain wet for a little while after you have used the shower. Whilst it does drain and dry naturally, if you are worried about slipping please feel free to put down one of the towels provided and Reception will always be happy to provide you with extra towels for this purpose.

Many thanks for taking the time to review BLOC Hotel Birmingham and we look forward to being able to welcome you back again in the future.

With best wishes

Sarah O.

A very modern pod room hotel. It's clean with nice rooms but be aware they are pod rooms so the bed spreads the width of the room and you'll have to climb over who ever is next to you in bed. Overall it's great if like us your after somewhere to just sleep and shower.

Dear Peter

I am delighted to read from your review of your stay with us at BLOC Hotel that our concept of providing immaculate, yet compact rooms, at rates which start at just £49, worked for you and enabled you to have the night in Birmingham that you were after.

If you did want a more spacious room, perhaps if you were staying for more than one night, do have a look at our newly launched Apartrooms on the BLOC Hotel website where you can see that they offer not only a comfortable King-sized bed but also a dedicated seating and dining area along with a fully-equipped kitchenette.

Thank you for all your positive comments about BLOC, we hope that you will be back to stay with us again soon.

With kindest regards

Sarah O.

Definitley not for weary traveller to stay, constant noise due to thin walls, banging either side and up above, youthsrunning amok at 2am in the morning! Toilet dirty, think it only gets cleaned by the shower that sprays out everywhere

Room tip: Choose a different hotel!

Dear Chris,

I was really sorry to read your review of BLOC St Paul's. We pride ourselves on offering exactly what the weary traveler needs and wants and thus to see that, for you at least, we didn't deliver is very disappointing. Whilst we cannot be responsible for the behavior of other guests I know that if you had alerted our twenty four hour reception team they would have moved swiftly to restore peace and quiet.

I will be investigating your comments regarding poor standards of cleanliness in the bathroom with our housekeeping team and I would like to apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Please do contact directly if you choose to stay with us again so that I can personally try and ensure you get the best of BLOC.

Kind regards,

Sebastian

The hotel itself is nice looking - but impractical. For example, the bathroom door is 90% see-through so people can see you sat on the toilet from the bedroom. Also, the room lights are all connected to a central device, which once you have switched off all the lights, still stays lit! Definitely aggravating for a person who only sleeps when the room is dark - suffice to say I was left feeling unrested.

The biggest issue I faced was with the hotel policy around extended check out. If you would like to change your check out time from 11am to 12pm, you have to go downstairs on the day of checkout and pay £20 in advance. Now, I have no problem paying extra for an additional service, but if I am looking to extend my check out, why on earth would I want to get out of bed, get dressed, pay some money to check out, and then come back to my room? I might as well leave. I tried to get around this by calling them from bed on the day of check out, and asking to extend over the phone - but again got the same response. Pretty illogical I would say.

I won't be staying here again.

Dear Sam,

Thank you for your review of your stay at BLOC St Paul's. I was pleased to read that you found the hotel concept attractive however I am obviously disappointed that you encountered some issues whilst staying with us. In particular I would like to apologize for the way in which your request for a late check out was handled. I will be revisiting with the team our policy on this matter as you're quite right when you say, if at all possible, you shouldn't have to get out of bed and come downstairs to extend your checkout.

Please do contact me directly via the hotel should you consider staying with us again at any of our properties as I would very much like to be able to handle your reservation personally and thus ensure you get the very best of BLOC.

Kind regards,

Sebastian

We stayed here and found it great value for money. Compared to other hotels in central birmingham and the jewellery quarter it's a great deal.

The rooms are small but if you're looking for a one night stay in a comfortable and clean room then this is it!

Bed was comfortable, bathroom and bedroom clean.

Couldn't complain.
