Stayed in October. Typical Holiday Inn Express format. Large, clean (but basic) rooms with minimal extras (ie basic toiletries)but good value, especially as rooms accommodate up to four people and the room rate includes breakfast. The breakfast was very good for a budget hotel and the staff were very friendly. No complaints at all. Would definitely recommend as a good value stop-over, but not for someone looking for luxury.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in November and once again Holiday Inn Express lived up to our expectations. This one only opened in July this year and you can still smell the new carpets. We missed the car park entrance at the front first time but not big problem. The lower inside car park is a little tight for large cars if you’re last in but if you prefer there is an upper outside car park which is much more spacious and no pillars to negotiate. You can drive straight in as barriers lift automatically and check-in staff will give you a code to get out. £3 per night for Priority Club members; a little more if not (£5?).

Check-in – fast and friendly thanks to Jennifer. She was also very knowledgeable about the local buses into town (incl. No. 900 + 957 quick journey) and what ticket type to buy (exact change needed). We found position of this hotel convenient for NEC too, either by bus or car.

Room – very spacious, immaculately clean and looks like on the site picture; comfortable bed, large flat screen TV, nice décor and spacious bathroom with huge shower. We requested, and got, high floor room at back in a quiet position. Friendly and helpful chambermaid but sorry did not get your name. Thanks also to a very friendly and helpful Damien on reception who sorted us out a missing light bulb for a bedside lamp as no maintenance person available at the time.

Nice ambience in breakfast/bar areas. Breakfast – we enjoyed again as usual. Wide choice of cereals, juices, grapefruit, yoghurts, fresh fruit incl. watermelon and bananas, hot croissants and pastries, jams (only minor grumble – they always run out of strawberry jam as it’s the most popular and they buy in mixed packs), marmalade, honey, sausages, scrambled egg, baked beans etc plus coffee and choice of teas incl. Earl Grey. Everything quickly replenished and tables cleared and cleaned quickly. We realise you’ll never please all the people all the time but we will certainly return. This is advertised as a budget hotel and it does what it says on the packet.

Room Tip: If you like a quiet room ask for end of corridor on a high floor at the back.

This stay has been fantastic. If you are looking to run a presentation or conference without blowing your budget, then this express is fantastic. It costs less and offers more. Don't be fooled by the low cost. We are happy to represent our client here, that should say it all...

Our clients have been very happy with this venue. The rooms are very good and the decor is fantastic throughout.

The staff are among the best I have seen in a hotel for a while. Short notice service with no problems and a very personable team. Alex was fantastic in booking us in and looking after us. The bar staff in the evening have been really good and are an asset to the hotel.

The conference room can gold around 20 theatre style and we have had two events here in two weeks. We will be back and will not use any other venue in Birmingham. As we know the standard here and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: They all seem really good and offer the same.

Thank you for your positive comments regarding our conference room. It is always nice to get feedback on this as the room is still a bit more of a "hidden" gem than we would like!

It still new, and a few months in still has a new feel to it.
Rooms very clean, bed very comfy.
The only thing that was wrong was a pint of bitter poured with no head, which was replaced without any complaint.

A new hotel and it shows. The rooms are of a pretty high standard and even though we had a room overlooking the main road, the double glazing did its job superbly. The bed is beautifully soft with the options of hard or soft pillows. The shower is of a very good size for a budget end hotel and has a good bit of power. Breakfast is of a basic standard (scrabbled egg does not work under heat lamps) but you do have the choice of Continental or Scrabbled Egg, Sausages & Beans and as much as you like. There is a car park for an extra cost of £5. Would we book this hotel again? The answer is a definite Yes.

Still has the new hotel smell and look to it. Greeted on arrival by friendly staff, in fact all the staff we dealt with were friendly. We stayed for 1 nights accommdation. Had a bar meal, food nice. Air con in the room kept coming on by itself, even though I kept turning it off. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast excellent. We had a room at the front of the hotel which was a bit noisy. All in all great hotel and would use again providing it's kept to its current high standard.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel as it will be quieter

The hotel is new - and it shows. Everything feels fresh, vibrant and clean, up to the usual Holiday Inn standards. Room size was good for the money. No complaints about that, or the furniture and fittings. Bathroom was sparklingly clean. As mentioned in other reviews, the breakfast could have been as fresh as the decoration. There's no excuse for powdered eggs in a hotel of this standard. Let's hope this is something which can be addressed through the chain on a national level.
