“Really nice hotel, Very helpful staff”
Reviewed 29 September 2012

I stayed in the Holiday Inn on the 26th September, even after messing up my booking myself by booking the wrong date. The reception staff were really helpful and moved my date to the 26th with no fuss.

The hotel is located halfway between the Airport/NEC and the city center. About ten minute drive depending on traffic, which can be bad. The hotel itself is very modern and spotlessly clean.I had a lovely room on the first floor. I will be back in Birmingham in November and will be staying here again.

Thank you again to the lovely staff.

Overnight stay, hotel appears new or recently refurbished so rooms very good - modern, clean and well equipped. Staff friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend staying there, but would not recommend the restaurant. Having struggled to find the menu, which was clearly then just printed off, the selection was very limited. The meals appeared to have been straight from the packet via a microwave and not really good. Breakfast buffet as you'd expect from HI Express, basic but ok.

Truly disappointing! From the time I checked in until checkout. The receptionist was untruthful. I asked how many floors in the building and she said 4. I get in the elevator and there are 7 floors. Next day I complained my sheets had holes in it and the window had a diagonal crack across it. I was informed they know about the crack and the sheets come back that way sometimes. This hotel is less than a year old.
I have to say the rooms are nice and the bathrooms are decorated nicely. This hotel is more like IBIS hotels than a Holiday Inn. The complimentary breakfast was nice and the presentation was great. Not your typical complimentary breakfast. Great selection.
The staff on morning and afternoon shift left a little to be desired. It was almost as if they had an " I dont care attitude. Okay, checkout was painful. I stood in line behind two couples, the desk was not manned. After a couple of minutes I asked them if they were being helped. The reply was no and I knocked in the manager's door. There was no reply and one of the couples went to go search for a receptionist. Finally, after painful waiting we all check out and that wasn't a smooth process. Of course the manager never appeared. I was so frustrated I left without asking for the manager.

Room Tip: Good location on conventry road. Within walking distance to Asda.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. Our hotel is very proud of its level of cleanliness and quality and its level of service and for this reason we find your comments very troubling and will certainly look into all those comments raised and can only deeply apologise for the unacceptable level of service that you received from our staff during your stay .
We sincerely hope that you take the time to stop in for a visit soon to see how we have taken every comment very seriously in order to make your future stays with us as pleasant as possible .

Stayed here last night as we were in B'ham for a family wedding. Absolutely perfect stay and defo recommend. Hotel looks new, nice & modern inside. Fantastic room (loved the bathroom & shower especially), friendly workers both on the desk and around the hotel. Got breakfast straight away this morning & it was replenished quickly and efficiently. Staff were on hand to help & offered to clean the plates etc from our table as we were getting up. Good selection of breakfast foods/drinks. Free wifi. Bargain at £39 (2 adults & 1 child but could of slept up to 4ppl). Loved our stay - the best holiday inn we've stayed at so far (and we've been to a few all over).

Rooms spotless in fact the whole hotel was superb. Don't know how they do it for what they charge. Staff were very friendly and efficient, we often visit family in Birmingham and we will definitley stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of the hotel which was fine for us, but if you like to sleep with the win...

Group of six of us stayed for one night, had a bargain on the price got a deal on rooms on internet. Location was good, although I do agree with other comments as our sat nav also got confused, it ended up taking us to the side of the hotel, we parked the car in street and checked in, asked reception about parking and was told it was £5 per night, but was told that there were no restrictions where we had parked so left car in street and saved ourselves a fiver.

This is a new building so it is very clean and modern. We decided to stay at the bar area for the afternoon to have a good catch up with our friends, we found the drinks at bar to be a little on the expensive side, a round of six drinks was around £26 (4 shorts, a beer and a coffee and the barman did keep pushing for doubles). However Wifi was free and their is a free computer in the lobby.

We went out for a meal and returned to hotel at around 10.30, we stayed in the bar til the early hours as bar is 24 hours.

Room is very good, nicely laid out and the shower is excellent, however we did have difficulty sleeping as we were in the front of the hotel and there is a busy dual carriageway directly outside. It was very warm in room, so opened window, big mistake as noise was unabearable, so shut window after 15 mins. (In fairness there is air con in room which we did not discover this until the morning) The other members of our group did not have any problems like we did, one of the couples even slept through their alarm.

Breakfast was included within our deal, this was a bit of a let down to be honest, room where food is, is very small and the cooked breakfast is limited to warmish baked beans, scrambled eggs and sausages, which are not around for long as only 12 were brought out at a time. Lots of people were complaining about this and there was a 15 minute wait for fresh sausages to be cooked each time. Not sure why there is no bacon offered though?????. There was also an issue with the coffee/tea machine and the manager was doing his best to sort this out.

I would not have been very pleased if I was paying the full price (£135 I think it was) for the overnight stay, but for what we paid, it was OK.

Room Tip: One at the rear of the hotel away from the dual carriageway at the front of the building

Thank you for your feedback!

We apologise that breakfast service was very busy Sunday morning; the majority of guests coming down within the last half an hour of service. It also seemed that our coffee machine couldn't cope with the pressure either!

It was great having you stay with us and we hope you enjoyed your Sunday afternoon!

Stayed here a night for a hotel and parking package for Birmingham. Couldnt fault the place, brand new as only a year old, good sound proofing even though on busy A45. Good size room with nice shower. Breakfast was incl and close to airparks - 6 minutes drive. Would stay again for the price if flying from birmingham though it is not convenient for city centre. £5 parking fee was waived which was a bonus.

Room Tip: Even number rooms would face away from A45

Thank you for your positive feedback!

We're glad to hear that the parking package worked well for you, and that it wasn't too difficult getting to the off-site AirParks car pak.

Our complimentary breakfast is always popular with guests and we're glad to here that you enjoyed it too!
