My family and I stayed at this hotel as we were going to see the wrestling at the LG arena.
The hotel couldn't have been in a better location, the arena was a 10 minute walk away, through really lovely grounds and past a lake. We were very lucky with the weather, which probably made the area look even nicer.
The hotel itself was very easy to find and it has plenty of parking, you do have to pay for the parking, but as hotel guests it costs £8.
We got to the hotel very early and were able to check in straight away, we were also upgraded to executive rooms which included use of the executive lounge which was a fantastic bonus.
The rooms were very spacious and well equipped and had a good size bed settee for the kids.
The beds were very comfy.
Having the use of the executive lounge was fantastic as we were quite shocked at how expensive the food and drink were in the hotel, it was £16 for a burger and chips!
The food was nice though and the service was good.
We used the pool which was very nice, there were swimming lessons going on but there was still room to swim, the one gripe we had was that a group of people decided to hog the jacuzzi so no one else got to use it, the time limits were not really adhered to.
The breakfast was great lots of choice and fantastic muffins!
What was also great was that check out is not until 12pm on a Sunday so after breakfast we used the pool again which was a bonus.
All in all a very good stay and we would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: If the hotel seems quiet ask for an upgrade.

This was my second annual conference at the Hilton and I certainly hope to return next year. I really could find no fault. All the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful, not least when I had to arrange the train journey home. I agree whole-heartedly with the positive comments others have posted about the leisure facilities and the walk round the lake.

Room Tip: If possible apply in good time. My request for an upgrade was accepted, and very reasonable. It wa...

Myself and my hubby stayed 1 night in a queen room last night.
The entrance and decor were superb, with good and polite customer service. We asked for a free upgrade but were declined! Only if we payed the extra!!
Our room was on the 3rd floor with views over the lake, BUT oh so noisy!! The planes from the airport flew over approx every 3 minutes!! (Which I then found quite depressing because I knew thousands of Brits were going on their hols to the sun!!!!! :( )
No flannels and no biscuits, in the tea and coffee facilities!!!!! I thought this was a 5 star hotel???
But to top it off, after a class meal in a village pub, we came back to the hotel bar and ordered a large red wine and a large white. Guess the price???????
£20 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEART ATTACK!!!!!!!
You could buy 4 bottles in Tesco"s for that price, not 2 glasses!!! Take your own and drink in your room, is my advice!!
However, next morning the breakfast was excellent! Buffet and all you could think of having for an English or continental brekkie!!
Would we stay here again?? No! I"ve stayed in much better 5 stars!!!!

Dear Babs

Thank you for your comments.

I was pleased that you had received good customer service from the team and that you were impressed with the hotel's facilities.

I would point out that the hotel is a 4 star hotel and not 5 star as you may have thought. Although face cloths are not provided as standard in our rooms, we would always be happy to provide upon request.

I was glad that you had enjoyed your breakfast experience - our breakfast is legendary....such a huge choice!

We do hope you will return to us again in the near future.

Kind regards

Lets start with the good bits, reception staff very helpful, room was clean, food for conference meal was good for mass catering. Overall service was very efficient. Ok, so this was balanced by very expensive wifi ( seriously is £15 for 24 hrs when many hotels now provide it for free justified???) and expensive parking ( again this should be free for guests) . In addition the small single beds in my double room were uncomfortable and moved on wheels and creaked every time you turned over, the duvet was thin, and it was noisy - you could hear every time somewhen went up and down the corridor outside, flushed the loo or took a shower in the ajoining tooms, and even the sound insulation from outside was poor, you could hear every time someone wheeled a suitcase across the tarmac outside.
Overall - a good basic hotel, outside the room it rated well, but as a room its beaten hands down by premier inn at a fraction of the price.

This was a conference weekend. The rooms, seating, comfort etc.were very good. The meals were varied, most enjoyable and served by very friendly staff. Swimming pool, sauna, walk around the lake were all part of useful exercise after some long sessions. The hotel does need a few more TVs showing sport, if not in public areas then in the rooms....I missed my team's rugby match.

Room Tip: ask for a lake view

I was staying at the Hilton Metropole to attend a weekend dance workshop being hosted at the hotel.

The hotel is modern with good facilities, although somewhat ‘soul-less’. The bedroom was fairly contemporary with comfortable beds, plus clean and comfortable.

All the staff I met at the hotel were friendly and professional, including the receptionists, bar staff, and housekeeping.

The bar meals in the evening were predictably expensive, but the buffet breakfast was excellent value.

In summary, a pleasant stay, that was in a good hotel which I would recommend.

This hotel is in a great position for the NEC, airport and the International Train Station, so getting about could not be easier. The staff were all very friendly and the hotel rooms were fairly big, we had deluxe rooms, and very clean. The basic rate for our rooms, including breakfast were very reasonable. However, eating in the hotel other than our inclusive breakfast was villainously expensive. I know that hotels are expensive to eat in, but £17 for a burger seems a bit steep even by hotel standards. Of course soft drinks were over £2.00 each and a 10% service is added to your bill as a matter of course...There were only 2 places to eat, the lounge and the bar, as the restaurant that is advertised was closed for evening meals the three days we stayed, with no explanation. Because this is an airport hotel, there are no other places nearby to eat, so you are a captive audience. I really felt that the hotel took advantage of this with their pricing, although we did just walk 10 mins back to the airport and eat there.
