“Deluxe single room”
Reviewed 1 December 2013 via mobile

Stayed here one night in Nov 2013. Very disappointed in size of single room. No easy chair just an office chair. Tiny toilet and shower. Toilet seat and vanity waste bin both broken. When I came out of shower to dry myself, and bent down to dry my legs, my nose was touching the toilet! Wardrobe was about 6" deep wall cupboard with mirror doors. Certainly made good use of small space available. When I gave feedback I asked what category room I had, and was told it was deluxe single. I checked the difference with standard single. They are 3/4 bed, and updated decor. However, I was given 20% discount. Would certainly check out size of room before booking again.

I stayed here recently as part of a works event. The customer service was very variable with the junior staff making up or senior staff members rudeness and arrogance.

The evening meal offered in he bar was cold and the service very disorganised. Had to ask for cutlery, condiments etc.

The oops really vary also so my advice to you is to check he nature of the room you're booking. Mine was fine (dodgy bath and taps though) but others had open plan in design and had no door on the bathroom.

It was by far the worst night I have experienced in a hotel in a long time, I listed a catalogue of problems on the comments card, which the duty manager did not seem too surprised about!

They included dangerous electrics, sharp edges on the glass sink and continual noise all night from the lift and heater timer.

The only good thing going for it was its location opposite the NEC.

Room Tip: Avoid any room near the lifts!

We stayed in this hotel last weekend . It was in a great location. Buses into city centre every 3 or 4 minutes. 15 mins from Solihull. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. However the breakfast really lets this hotel down. We werent expecting much from a continental breakfast but were very dissappointed. We came down at 8.15. Breakfast started at 8. There was only two other couples there. No bread! The girl got her coat on and said she was going to get some. Choice of only 2 cereals! Not great for kids. Coffee, juice etc ok but had to ask for milk. No butter (only margarine) On 2nd day the staff really couldnt cope with all the guests that came at once (around 3 couples and 2 families)

Room Tip: Rooms at back less noisy although traffic noise didnt keep us awake

This place is huge, but it is a very expensive soulless box.
Room I had was comfortable enough.
No free wifi, though. £8 to park.
Worst breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. Lousy buffet job, with everything lukewarm. The eggs were like those rubber ones you get from the joke shop. Black pudding was dried out, miserable tiny sausages.
Bar really busy, with limited seating. No real ale on offer, just gassy keg beers.

We couldn't get in the main restaurant so had to have the buffet meals, these weren't bad, but again weren't exactly piping hot. Overpriced for what they were. The only good thing was you could eat as much as you wanted, and go back round.

I would not revisit, I would rather go else where.

First and Last time at a Hilton , visiting the bike show, location is obviously good but 20% more on same deal in the crown plaza! Millers restaurant £97 for steak and Chips twice and Low rent bottle of red . tired room , £8 to park your car unbelievably as a resident and that's if you can get a space the day we stayed we had to wait for 35 minutes to get one. Duvet too thin and no extra blanket in wardrobe. Why no drinking water in room? Why no face flannel?
And charging £15 for WiFi in 2013 is a salute disgrace.(free in the bar, come in guys don't rip off paying guests)
I represent a large organisation who do use the Hilton group for conference facilitates in the UK but after my stay here and the daylight robbery we experienced , we will NOT be using the Hotel chain again. Mark
