Always go to the christmas market every year. Its starts from Broad street and goes right down near to the Bullring which is quite some distance. Its does attract alot of people especially nearer the weekends we always tend to go on a Monday or Tuesday evening around 7 as we find its a little quieter. There is a small outdoor ice rink and big ferris wheel. Lots of food stalls the side is a variety of nationalities and on the other side is mainly german sausages etc. Lots of gift stalls there is some nice items to grab some are overpriced crap. Theres some entertainment at the one bar with singers but some are rubbish and cant sing so just sounds like a right racket. Could do with putting a funfair back on for the kids like there used to be. Its a nice few hours out for a drink and something to eat.

Actually, we preferred this to London's Winter Wonderland. This is a much bigger market. It was less busier than London as well, though late afternoon as it was getting dark, it started to get very busy. At least we could walk the market with ease. Admittedly many if the markets sold the same stuff, but great atmosphere and bought a few extra stocking fillers. Beer and food is expensive though, for what it is. Had a great day.

Took 11 SN students to the out door Christmas ice skating .. The staff could not be more helpfull with our students, they were excellent, they even provided the little penguins to help our group around the ice, to which every student was able to take part. They gave extra time on the ice ring allowing them to have a great time.. A big Thank you to the staff.
After our skating had a lovely 5 minute walk to the German market and spending more time their than we should have looking at all the different and unusual items for sale, stopped off for a hot chocolate which was a little expensive (3.00) and a hot dog which was 2.00 which was good value due to the size.. Over all a very enjoyable day out for all .. Again a big thank you to the staff at the ice skating.

We went to Victoria square during Christmas and there was a Birmingham and Frankfort market. It was a very live place with lots of German food and gifts. The area under the cathedral was very crowded with lots of stools selling drinks. We spent the whole day there. At night, the Christmas decoration lights was very nice.

Friends of mine had told me that the Birmingham Christmas Market was a “must visit” so my wife and I had been looking forward to going there for several years. We were really looking forward to soaking up the Christmas ambience and finally managed to visit this December – but ended up feeling quite disappointed! Yes, there were Christmas lights and stalls selling mulled wine, pork and ostrich burgers, beer, etc., but there was hardly any Christmas music and the majority of the stalls sold just non-Christmas stuff … and prices were on the expensive side. I wouldn’t have minded paying a bit over the odds if there was a wonderful Christmas ambience … but the whole place just seemed over commercialised, profit focused and lacking any Christmas atmosphere. This was not the Christmas Market that had been described to us – so standards would seem to have fallen, which is a real shame! On the plus side, we did enjoy a gentle walk along the canal and also a visit to the Museum and Art gallery where we saw the Staffordshire Hoard and had a lovely coffee in their excellent café / restaurant.
