Disgusting hotel as well as the staff they have no form of customer service as well as the manager. No food or alcohol allowed in the rooms. If there is a group of you, you are not allowed in each others rooms. The car park is locked at 10pm and they wont open for you. I will never stay at the hotel again i would rather sleep on the streets

I gotta say after reading some of the reviews on here i really was fearing the worst but on my arrival i was put well at ease. The lady on the reception was friendly and helpful, the reception area was clean and tidy.
There was 9 of us in our group staying 1 night in Birmingham for a birthday celebration this past weekend just gone (14th-15th april 2012)
I picked this hotel because of availability and price but it was spot on for what we needed.
Only about £6 taxi from the train station,on an easy route in &out of the town center.
Really good location for all the main pubs and clubs on broad street.
We had 4 rooms booked,i didn`t see the others rooms but the 1 i was in was spot on!
We had 3 single beds,it wasn`t cramped at all.It was clean and everything i would of hoped for.
We all went to the bar before setting off into town,it was well stocked and reasonably priced.
The fella serving at the bar sorted us a couple of taxi`s no problem.
That was pretty much the end of my Edgbaston palace experience until i returned about 4am the following morning.
The only very small down point would of been as we didnt have a breakfast included in our stay, had we have wanted to order 1 on the sunday morning it would of been about £11 each.
The bar wasn`t open as we checked out at 11 so we visited a beefeater which is about 100 yards along from the hotel. We were able to get a full breakfast and a pint before we set off back home.

I always read reviews on here but have never written one before but felt I had to about this hotel. The reception staff were beyond rude, the hotel filthy with bare wires and no smoke alarms in rooms. When we turned the tap on in our room no water came out and receptions response was it's an air lock. The toilet leaked on the floor when flushed and again nothing was done. In the end we had to use a relatives room to shower.

The breakfast was £7.50 and definitely not worth it!! I would say this was more like a hostel than a hotel and I would definitely NEVER stay here again. A far better option is the travelodge down the road.

I can only echo the experience of other reviewers and warn travellers NOT to stay in this awful hotel. It looked fine on the website but on arrival we were not at all happy with the shabby room we were given; the walls were scraped and marked, the bed bases exposed and filthy, the carpet covered in stains, window blinds hanging off their hinges... Naturally, we went straight back to reception and asked for a refund. The staff couldn't have been ruder or less professional if they'd tried. They refused point blank to refund our money even though we'd literally only paid a few minutes previously (it's their policy to take payment first - we know why now!) We both travel a lot with work but have never come across such atrocious customer service or such low grade accommodation at premium prices. Traveller beware!

Wish I'd read the reviews before booking a room in this awful hotel! AVOID THIS PLACE! The receptionist took payment on arrival - big mistake. Our room had a filthy carpet, stained bedding blinds hanging off the wall. Worst of all, outside the room were two exposed electrical sockets and trunking. Don't know if the sockets were live or not but I wasn't about to let my young daughters grabbing hands find out for me! Armed with these complaints we went to see the manager but he refused to inspect these problems with us. So we asked for a refund which was refused. We soon realised that the manager and other members of staff had absolutely no customer care skills and really could not be bothered to deal with our complaint. After a long argument we checked out £90 down and checked into the Eaton hotel directly across the road - infinitely better in every respect and amazingly £10 cheaper with a fantastic breakfast thrown in! We feel completely ripped off and we'll be taking this up with trading standards. I've got the photos to prove all of this which I'll add to the review. Seriously - the other negative reviews on here are not exaggerated - this is a badly managed dump.

I stayed at the Edgbaston Palace for an overnight stay prior to a business trip. The hotel looked good in the pictures but inside the room I was given was tatty. Dirty marks on the walls dirty carpets and tired looking furniture. The bed was not particularily comfortable In this day and age internet should be free, not here!
On a more postive note the bar area was pleasant and drinks were cheap. In addition the breakfast was ok and it was served quickly.
Its not a place i shall look to return to.
