Owner description: Visit BBC Birmingham's state-of-the-art studios: home of The Archers, Midlands Today and BBC WM. Take a peek behind the scenes and then join in some interactive fun as you create your own radio drama complete with sound effects and music! BBC Tour guides give a fascinating insight into the many programmes originating from BBC Birmingham and tell the inside story of what it takes to get them from script to screen. They are also on hand to answer any burning questions relating to technical wizardry, famous faces that have visited the building or even where Nick Owen gets his jokes! This is your invitation to gain access to the rarely-seen world behind the famous TV and radio programmes that are broadcast and produced from BBC Birmingham. BBC Birmingham is a working building so no two tours are the same, but they will always be informative, interesting and entertaining. In 2010 the tours won the Best Tourism Experience in the Heart of England. Ticket prices range from £7 - £9.25 and tours last up to one-and-a-half hours. Tours regularly take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the day (with some tours in the evening). Please see website for further details. The building is wheelchair accessible. All children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Took my family to the BBC Birmingham tour at the Mailbox on Saturday afternoon. The group was relatively small and the tour guides were very informative. Seeing behind the scenes was fascinating. I must say mine were the only children on the tour and they asked loads of questions. The tour guides were very good at explaining things and answering the questions in a way the kids could understand. I certainly recommend the tour especially if your a fan on BBC WM or BBC Midlands.

A fascinating tour behind the scenes at BBC Birmingham at 1300 0n 20 June. It was all brought to life for us by the 2 guides who entertained and amused the group from start to finish. And showed us the complexity of putting out live television/radio. Great stuff.
Well done BBC for employing such excellent young people.

This is an extremely interesting look behind the scenes and history of several BBC shows. The Blue Peter time capsules in reception are particularly good and will keep kids and adults occupied.

It‘s a interesting and informative place. Worth a visit. It‘s located next to the mailbox. Was a short walk to my hotel.

We took our Granddaughter to visit the BBC for her 9th birthday. The tour states it is only suitable for children over 8, I would agree with this. Having said that Charlotte loved it, the staff on the day were superb, really making a fuss of her as she was the only child, however, out of 12 people there were 4 birthdays! A lovely mention of this at the end of our visit.

It was very good value for money, and therefore Grandad and I fully recommend a visit. Di & Lee Davies & Charlotte.
