“Excellent Value”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

If you are looking for great value in a good location then this is for you. Dont expect the hotel to be 5 Star boutique, but the rooms are tidy, clean and comfortable, there is ample secure parking and it is only around 5-10 minute walk to the Mailbox and Bullring shopping centres. The hotel is also in a very good location if visiting the theatre or O2 Academy. I got a really good deal from laterooms.com, but even at full price, I think I would still have been pleased with the hotel.

Great value stay for two nights, Friday (£38) and Saturday (£55), recently. Very central for walking out to bars etc in the centre of Birmingham. Private secure car park a real bonus.

The room was spotless, bed linen crisp and clean, bathroom spotless. Only downside in the bathroom was the low water pressure in the shower which was very low, but manageable. (Room 139)

Breakfast buffet served in the main Reception/Bar was 'OK' - nothing special but for around £6.00 it was acceptable. Only downside was the regurgitated scrambled egg...or do I mean reconstituted ? Either way they looked and tasted regurgitated, -:) so perhaps I was right first time....very poor and lazy and spoiled what could have been a better than OK breakfast...but otherwise the breakfast was a reasonable start to the day.

Will use again if I need accom in Birmingham.

First room I was allocated - the TV didn't work and the room smelled of cigarette smoke. Moved to another room in which the shower hose was fractured so that more water ran straight down the drain than dribbled out of the shower head. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful but the actual place is pretty awful. I then had to wait for 20 minutes outside the gates to be let back in late at night as the security guy did not answer the bell. All in all not a good experience.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay, but I was very disappointed to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.

I would like to confirm that I will do take the appropriate measures to address your problem and I will investigate this issue to prevent future occurrence as receptionist are at desk 24 hours even if security guard is on round on the corridors.

This is a budget hotel, so don't expect 5 star accommodation. Room was clean and tidy, TV worked, lights worked (no missing bulbs), bathroom also clean and tidy, fresh towels, plenty of toilet roll provided. Bed linen was clean. Bed in fact gave an excellent night's sleep, plenty of pillows. Carpet was looking tired, and could perhaps do with either replacing or a good clean, but overall was liveable with.

Breakfast was good, though maybe not worth nearly 8 quid, but it was sufficient, with plenty available.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed for one night, would stay again.

Spent the night of the 2nd July 13 at this hotel (do not confuse with the other two Ibis hotels in Birmingham city centre.) This hotel really is you get what you pay for. Spent £59.00 for myself and the wife, no complaints about anything...... other than on the side of the hotel we stayed in (road side) there are a line of tube lighting strips that run outside the bedrooms so be careful about the positioning of the curtains because the light will flood in all night, this can be improved but not overcome totally.

As for cleanliness and all the other usual thing this hotel is good value for the money.

Did not stay for breakfast so can not comment

Good budget hotel.

I would recommend this hotel as a very friendly and convenient place for a budget stay in central Birmingham. The two key points to note are - 1) it's hard to locate! However once you know where it is you will realise how convenient is can be and 2) it is in a fairly run down area - I have never had a problem but I can imagine some people being concerned about walking out to a restaurant or to a meeting in central Birmingham. I have stayed here many times in the past and will do so again in future.
