“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed 15 February 2010

Stayed at the hotel over the weekend for one night, hotel is fantastic, brilliant location only 2 minutes to the main bars & restaurants. Quick check in and friendly staff. room was beautiful with everything you could want in the room and more, the Imac was a great touch and the bed was more comfy than my bed at home!! Will definately stay again and highly recommend.

My sister and I stayed for the weekend - beware that club rooms are not available as a twin so we were moved to a smaller standard room such as the one I had stayed in on an earlier visit - there really is little difference though to be fair so would be happy to make the saving next time.

Look out for offer vouchers on the City Inn website - we had downloaded the two for one cocktail vouchers and can highly recommend the results! We had gone back to the hotel rather than freeze standing in a queue for a nightclub and were happy with our choice.

Also highly recommended is the fine dining restaurant nearby (Edwards? Simpsons? sorry - can't remember which) where we ate early from the pre theatre menu - the food and the service were excellent and for no more than you might have spent in Cafe Rouge or similar.

Looking forward to another girls weekend sometime soon and would certainly stay again.

Recently stayed at City Inn for a birthday weekend celebration. The staff couldnt do enough for us and when the General Manager found out the reason for our stay, he organised champagne for us, a totally unexpected gesture.

A nice hotel, conveniently situated Birmingham. The restaurant is excellent, can't recommend it highly enough. Quality of the food is superb.

GENERAL: I have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel while I was in Birmingham for a conference. The hotel has a large airy lobby and the rooms are comfy, immaculate and functional with an I-MAC and free internet in every room. The bathroom was small (which personally didn't particularly bother me) and had a nice power shower.

FOOD: I had breakfast brought up to my room, there was a good selection and it was quite filling and arrived exactly at the time I had requested. I also had dinner in the hotel restaurant and thought the food was a very good standard and not what I expected from a hotel restaurant.

LOCATION: It wasn't far from Broad Street and walking distance to the main train station/shops was about 10 - 15 minutes away. Its in a nicely developed area with shops and restaurants close by.
Would definitely recommend to both business and leisure travellers alike.

Stayed at the City Inn on a Friday night in late January. Booked last minute on the City Inn website for £59 bed and breakfast. We parked in the Canalside parking - alongside the hotel - arriving early (at noon) but were given access to our room. After dropping off our belongings, we headed to the Bull Ring (around 10-15 minutes away).
We had dinner in one of the cafes in the nearby Brindleyplace.
Breakfast was the only disappointment. Service was hit and miss. None of the staff knew what each other was doing and food was of questionable quality. We would return but next time we may pay room only and have breakfast in Brindleyplace.
