“not bad!”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Stayed here a few times for concerts at the NIA. The refurbishment is brilliant. good clean comfortable rooms.
Only a 3-5 mins walk to the NIA this was perfect.
As the hotel is on the main strip of Broad street it was quiet noisy at night, esp on student night. Located near many restaurants we didn't need to get a taxi anywhere. The hotels car park was closed on out last visit but there is a large 24 hr multi-story car park just down the rd that £6 for 24 hrs.
For the convenience of the location of the hotel and it being liveable i will definitely be staying here in the future.

I was staying here for a works seminar. Having heard stories I was expecting cheap and dodgy but it was better. Nice big rooms, clean and modern. Reception was efficient and friendly. If you do face the front it is a busy noisy street below. Buses run late and early. It's great for access and to restaurants but also pubs so you could hear people outside late. Great views if you are on a higher floor. Would stay here again.

I chose this place because I only needed to stay for a few hours, arriving late evening and departing very early. At £36 a night it was cheap and to be fair the staff I spoke to were friendly, the room was just about acceptable and reasonably clean. I was a bit grossed out by a hair I found in the bed, but decided to hope it belonged to the maid!

However, I'm not sure I would stay again primarily as it was very very noisy and I stayed on an allegedly quiet night. Seriously, it was like having a room in a disco! And Travelodge do a great job in extorting as much as they can out of you. The bathroom had a minuscule piece of soap in it. They charge £5 an hour for the internet and a fiver for a boxed breakfast of cheap junk food. The public area is dingy and the rooms have poor insulation and cheap curtains that let the light in. The verdict: if you arrive at the hotel off your face (perhaps after visiting on the many pubs/clubs on Broad Street) you probably won't notice the negatives and the place is cheap and kind of OK - or if you just want a waiting room with a bed like I did, then it might be worth considering. Otherwise, pay a bit more and get a free breakfast, free wifi, decent room and bathroom with shower gel at the Hampton Inn just up the street!
The location is very central, close to New Street Station and opposite a Sainsbury supermarket, with plenty of buses.

Room Tip: Bring some sleeping pills, ear plugs or a bottle of vodka if you want to sleep

Stayed here for 3 nights to meet up with friends and celebrate st.patricks day. Staff are fantastic. Location great for where we wanted to be. Rooms are large, clean. Can be a but noisy but that's because of disrespectful guests. Keep up the good work. Thank you for another fantastic stay.

I stayed here with some friends as we were going out in Birmingham. It is cheap, spacious and very conveniently located to the centre but the rooms are dirty and the hotel is noisy. The bathrooms could definitely do with a make over as they were very outdated!

Great location, friendly helpful, polite staff, rooms fresh clean and comfortable. The beds are superb - best night sleep I have had in quite some time. Got a bargain advance price and I think I got more than the expected value for money.
Local parking options are cheap also which is great.
Would definitely stay here again.

Nice and clean, but if you want some sleep ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you are disabled all the rooms are at the front of the hotel and do not have wet floor showers, but have twin beds
