Have to say its a budget hotel, but it does what it says on the tin, room was clean , breakfast was good, papers to read , staff could not do enough to help , attentive in the bar, have stayed in more expensive hotels but it's fine, my steak was exactly as I asked , it's very central , location is where is it is convenient , not scenic , it's fine , it's value for money ,

We stayed here not knowing what to expect after reading some reviews, but we were very impressed with what we got for the price of the room, everything was very clean and the linen was crisp and white, if I had to make one criticism if would be that there wasnt enough plug sockets, but overall was really pleased and would definately stay here again.

The hotel has a general grubby appearance about it and just didn't feel clean. The room was small, very basic, quite noisy, and smelly (food smells). The lamp shades were filthy, and the carpets felt unpleasant under foot. The location of the hotel is also very depressing. We certainly wouldn't stay in the hotel again.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights as we were visiting the German markets. After reading reviews from other trip advisors, we asked for a canal view room. We got to the hotel and was booked in quite quickly but once we got to our ground floor room, we found the 'canal view' consisted of seeing the tiniest bit of water and graffiti on walls across the way - not a view at all! It was the hotels patio area and if you didn't keep the curtains closed, people could look in and see you and the room, very off-putting. There was no road noise thankfully. We were not made aware at any point of our booking that the room was linked to next door via 2 doors in our room. If both us and next door kept the doors unlocked, we could go between the two without using the doors to the corridor, I really didn't like this. The walls were so thin we heard the drunken group of guests singing at 10pm and in the morning, we could hear every word of their conversation next door!! There was no lock on the bathroom door, a sign in the bathroom stated 'please try and save energy by re-using the towels' which we have no problem with but for the 2 of us we got one hand towel and one bath towel, so they had to be washed daily else we were drying with wet towels! There was one spare plug socket behind the TV which had to be used in turn with the kettle/ phone charger and hair straighteners. We came back from a day out Sunday to find our 'key card' would not work, my husband took it to reception to be told that they had changed the door codes and they had to re-set ours for us to get into our room. On the Sunday night my husband asked to use an iron and an ironing board. The ironing board was designed to be used on a desktop so we had to clear the desk of the coffee etc. and for my husband who is 6ft 4, this meant leaning down to use it and so caused discomfort for him. The iron was burnt on the metal plate, it burnt a part of my husbands shirt and it didn't get to a decent heat to iron the clothes and so he had to change his outfit or go out with a slightly burnt and creased shirt!! We decided to have breakfast on the morning of our departure within the hotel, for the price, it wasn't worth it to be honest. The room was basic, small and clean but we will not be staying here again. £86 for 2 nights, it was a waste of money.

Room Tip: If you insist on staying here, ask for a high floor canal view room to guarantee no road noise and a...

Had a one night stay here whilst visiting Birmingham in December, found the hotel to be very good, check in was seamless and we were in our rooms within 5mins. Sleep quality was good, no road noise, and the bedding was quite comfortable. Good size bathroom, however there was no ability to lock it so be careful. Power points were few and far between. Car park was of good size and availability of space was good as was the fact the gates were locked during the night for added security. Would definitely return.

Stayed one night whilst visiting the Christmas Markets and knew it was cheap. But to me there is cheap and there is cheap and nasty. And this was cheap and not so good. Our double room on the ground floor had no spare socket point for the both of us to charge our phones, the t.v. wasn't even plugged in, the kettle was old, dirty and hardly worked, and there wasn't a hook for either of our towels. They wanted to charge us £8 for breakfast! However it was close to the centre of Birmingham and there were some nice pubs nearby and we found a great cafe for breakfast, see one of my other reviews.
