I recently stayed there with my family. We had a very warm welcome and a very pleasant stay. Everything was brilliant and the hotel staff were very friendly especially Connor O'Sullivan, Annabel and Debbie from housekeeping.

I am a priority club gold member and use group hotels from Express to InterCon around the world. I sit here at breakfast angry and bewildered at this place. Last night the TV system failed and still does not work this morning. The menu last night said there were vegetables (plural)on the sea bass dish - there was one piece of green (wasn't that worried at the time). Breakfast - if staff can't understand English then don't employ them THREE times I asked for fresh runny eggs to be cooked as those on the buffet were made of rubber -twice they came back over cooked so ended up at reception forcefully expressing my view to the duty manager who mumbled sorry but avoided eye contact. Rest of cooked breakfast looked poor. Room was ok but not if you wanted to look out of the window. To be frank most HIExpress hotels are far better than this. Paying for an executive room I expect as a minimum access to wifi so this fits neither business or pleasure - use the Travel Lodge next door - you know what you get and is more than half the price I am paying

I was there for two nights on business. I asked to move rooms as there was a screaming child next door. That was done quickly and easily. However I later discovered that the lock didn't work on my door so filled in the maintenance card and left on the door. It was taken but the problem was not fixed by the time I left. The aircon was non-existent so I had to leave the window open - this was slightly scary as it went out onto a flat roof where anyone could have climbed in.

The restaurant was soulless, with no obvious person in charge and very few staff around. The food was good but overpriced. The bar was the place to sit if you wanted wifi but there was none in the rooms! The hotel also seems to suffer from a lack of signage, be it in the pool/gym area, car park or even entrance to the hotel. Not clear at all where to go and how to get there.

In contrast we went over to the Novotel for dinner to meet colleagues and their restaurant was buzzing with an on the ball maître 'd.

Overall it was very average and would certainly book other hotels before this one.

Room Tip: Don't choose 352 if you want to lock your door!

Sadly the rooms are in dire need of refreshing. A requested iron was delivered only not to work and second then delivered to my room only to have a broken plug with bare wires exposed! Quite shocking.
What a surprise when I went for a bath at 10pm only to discover no hot water.
Would not wish a repeat visit

Having arrived early evening I found the car park quite busy and difficult to park. Once checked in my room was being heated by a temporary space heater and felt damp. The service at the bar was okay and the restaurant was soulless. The food was good and the staff attentive, which made the experience better. The room was in need of refurbishment but clean. Breakfast was okay. Having to pay for parking seemed OTT. Overall an okay experience. It would have been worse but the staff made it better.

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago just after it was refurbished. Then we had a fab room at a great price. Sadly this stay was in part of the hotel that had missed out on the fab refurbishment and it cost the same as before. It was ok just dated with a tiny bathroom, we had to stay for 5 nights as we are working at NEC so it got a little claustrophobic. Service was great throughout though and everyone we encountered were very, very good. The shuttle bus was good for transport to and from NEC. Breakfast was good too with plenty of choices for veggies.

Room Tip: Go for a better than standard room if you can afford to

I stayed overnight at this hotel it is good value for money as it is close to the airport and has a shuttle bus service
The rooms are large and comfortable it is close to the motor way but there is no noise the old Birmingham airport terminal is at the rear of the hotel but is no longer in use

There is a very useful fitness centre and pool in the hotel.
