“What a wonderful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

I spent the evening of my birthday here and it was just the perfect finish to a perfect day. The staff are wonderful and so pleasant and helpful nothing is too much trouble for them. The bedroom was a beautiful twin room with 2 double beds. I would recommend that everyone should stop here and do try the restaurant, the food was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful time

Poorcheck in, problems with horrible attitude of reception staff. Had to wait 1hour before my wife partner was given a room.Dirty rooms, dirty trays in corridors ,my whole stay was ruined with this experience.I will not recommend anyone to stay here.

We went to a wedding reception at the Forest of Arden. We arrived mid-afternoon. We wanted a cup of tea. We had to pay cash - beforehand - before we could be served. The room was okay (not good, not bad) but not good value for £103. It was a long walk to it from the lift and the view was the car park. It is difficult for me to criticise the food at the reception since we were guests. However, if the Marriott charged more than £2 per person it would have been robbery! The same goes for the wine. Red or white - no choice. Plenty of beer, however. Then, just to make my misery complete I was charged for a newspaper which most hotels offer complimentary. I am being generous in calling it "poor". Perhaps "terrible" would have been nearer the truth.

We comprised 22 couple (44 golfers) in Captain's Away two day visit. Like most Marriott Hotels this one is very functional. Our room (367) was excellenr with two double beds and everything one would need for a comfortable stay. The food was good as was the service.
There are two courses; The Aylesford (5801 yds off white tees) and the Arden (6707 yds off white tees). Both are enjoyable to play although the latter is the slightly tougher of the two. There are a lot of bunkers and some water. Our only slight concern was the thick rough just off the fairway. Many of our golfers came in minus a number of balls and they were not that far off the fairway. We thought the price of snacks in the bar adjecant to the 18th green were exhorbitant ( a chicken tikka sandwich £7.00, prawn bap £6.50 etc) but at the end of a good two days most golfers decided to get something anyway.

Room Tip: We stayed in 367 which was a twin. The room was large as were the beds

We have just returned from a family get together at the Forest of Arden - around 20 of us plus 3 babies. From booking to the end of the break I cannot speak more highly of the staff - we were all booked into rooms on the same floor, some inter-connecting. Reception staff were delightful, and our family meal on Saturday night in the Zest restaurant was wonderful. The head waiter, Michael, was just so good - so calm, patient and polite. Breakfast on Sunday was also a feast.
Our room was clean and well provided for in terms of equipment
The hotel was very busy, 3 or 4 weddings on, but we did not feel we were ignored at all -the only complaint I have is the cost of a buggy on the golf course - more expensive than the round of golf!!

Room Tip: Liaise with the administrative staff in advance of your break and you will be able to be allocated w...

We went to an annual ball held here. This was our third visit to this hotel the service, rooms and staff have been consistant on each visit. The food lovely, breakfast is self service and not to be missed.
The rooms are always clean the only shame is that there is no air conditioning in the rooms, they do have fans i you need it you will find it in the wardrobe with the ironing board. They also have a safe and hair dryer in the rooms.

Room Tip: You can opt for a room with a view of the golf course, but I believe that there is a premium for the...

I stayed here overnight before attending an event at the NEC. It is reasonably well situated for the NEC although it is a 10 -15 minute drive with no public transport. The room was spacious and comfortable, well equipped and mostly clean, although the tiling and grouting in the bathroom was looking dirty and tired. It was unfortunate that I was greeted with confusion about whether or not I could use my debit card to leave a deposit for extras but this was resolved. i was given inadequate instructions as to where my room was located and ended up walking round in circles. But overall, this a comfortanble, well equipped hotel with good facilities and lovely grounds. I attended a business dinner in the evening and the food was excellent, although the service was less good. I was disappointed at the charges for in-room wifi. £15 for 24 hours is overpriced and small things like this make all the difference to my decisions about whether I would return to a place like this.
