At this lovely setting (it is ovely, green , spacious, just beware loud trousers on loud golfers), I had a day conference on a Saturday and an overnight stay.

The room was a delight - it is high spec and the bed I wanted to live in, goosey all the way - what a treat.

Room etc all as expected of a good quality chain hotel.

The staff at the conference area were most obliging but could not conquer the air con - boiling or freezing, no middle ground.

The reason for the review is to say STOP _ THINK if you are using mass catering there. WE were only 30 odd for private dining meal. The food was SO DISAPPOINTING, nit the menu but the actual plated items. Soup - underseasoned and bland. Stuffed pork loin with apricots tasted unpleasant and veggies were dull and tasteless. The cheesecake was no better than a Tesco's value one. IT was shocking, Simple food badly cooked and prepared wihout care. I would not spend my own money in their restaurants.

Breakfast service from maitre'd was terrific; bucks fizz, free paper even carried to the table!! But - POWDERED EGG for scrambled eggs, porridge in a vat clearly marked 'soup of the day' so MOST OFFPUTTING. You could find pretty much what you wanted but it was not stunning or even as good as it should be. Filter coffee stewed and shoved in a stainless steel jug? WHY no cafetieres?

Needs all elements to be as good as the bed, then I'd consider returning, but next time I want a good sleep I'll bring my own food and stay in the room!!

A huge hotel in a beautiful location - so close if you are attending a gig at the NEC or LG Arena.

We checked in quickly, found our room and was pleasantly surprised at the super kingsize bed, and fully appointed room.

After returning from a concert, we had a couple of drinks in the very busy and vibrant Zest Bar - ending a great night.

Before breakfast, we went for a swim and used the sauna/steam room.... before the swimming lessons for children commenced!

The breakfast had just about everything you could want. The made to order omelette bar was particularly good. Plenty of variety of food on offer, and although the restaurant was very busy, we did not have to wait for anything.

The only thing I would do different is to have a taxi to take us to and from the LG - by the time you have queued and paid exorbitant parking fees, it would have been a lot easier! There were always taxis parking outside of reception.

All in all, a very nice stay.

First impressions were great, not far from the A45, and easy to get to. Parking was very close to the hotel.

We got a warm welcome at reception, and were quickly checked into our room. No problem getting about the hotel, all rooms easily signposted. When we got to the room, it was in very good décor, typical of what you would expect of such a hotel. The king size bed was really comfy, with very comfortable pillows! Both of us slept very well, no problems with noise in the night, we had a room overlooking the car park, but this wasn't an issue at all.

We'd booked treatments in the spa, which was a very relaxing treat, and we would definitely recommend!

Ate in the Zest Bar in the evening, a little pricey for what we ate, but to be expected. Food was good quality, especially the desserts! (The Crème Brulee was excellent!)

Breakfast was fab, good selection of cooked breakfast, with cereals and patisseries. One downside was that I got bacon that had been out for a while, and was swimming in fat, but that was the only problem.

Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff in the hotel, from receptionist, concierge through to the waiters and waitresses during our meals. The location is ideal to have a feeling of "getting away from it all"

We will definitely be returning to the hotel again.

This place is huge with a large country club and golf facility on site. I was staying just one night before catching a flight from Birmingham Airport and in this respect it was ideally located just a 10 minute drive from the Terminal in the morning. Arriving after dark firstly the signage as you drove through the enormous car park was extremely difficult to read as the illumination seemed to actually retract from its visibility. Once parked in front of the country club I still had to hunt for the actual Hotel entrance which was through an archway and courtyard. I was given a King room which was on the second floor effectively in the roof. The room was large with reasonably sized bathroom with shower above the bath and usual toiletries on offer. There was very large and comfortable bed with a huge number of pillows and cushions most of which ended up on the floor. There was a flat screen TV on the wall. Wi Fi was apparently available in the room but at the prices they were charging I decided not to bother.
The restaurant was large and impersonal but the service was OK. Quite a nice bar next to it which was quite busy. Unfortunately there was no real ale on offer just lager and a pretty poor keg bitter.
All in all an OK experience but not the wow factor that the location and initial impression promises
As I had an early flight I didn't have breakfast electing to get it at the airport instead.

Impressive looking hotel, with lovely decor both in the public areas and the rooms. We had booked a king room on a Friday night but they had run out of standard king rooms so we got upgraded to a the king premium. Attention to detail questionable - when we got to the room there was a gift bag there ... which was meant for someone else in a different room!

Unfortunately, it was a terrible night's sleep. The smoke alarm kept on blinking all night and the bed was spongy and soft (luckily no squeaky springs) - great if you are someone who likes to "sink" in the bed. Otherwise the room was good - large and clean bathroom and all the mod cons you would expect, decent hairdryer, plush slippers etc.

Breakfast was standard. Scrambled eggs were from powder but they did have a specific egg station which was a nice touch. Did not have time to try the spa.

Room Tip: Try asking for one that does not face the carpark!

Stayed as part of a company social but have to say I was disappointed with Marriott and wouldn't choose to stay here myself. The room was spacious and clean but fundamentally this is a huge hotel which doesn't have the services to match,

. We were on 2nd floor and struggled to even find the room. I attempted to go for a swim and find the country club with no signs of how to access the pool was really frustrating. The room was hot, no air con, and despite having an ice bucket and 4 glasses couldn't locate a mini bar or bottle of water. I couldn't go down to the bar since I hadn't got half an hour to spare! Wifi was expensive (15£ for 24 hrs) which in this day and age you expect a lot of hotels to provide free of charge. There was one tiny lift for the entire hotel which was inadequate at checkout time. Fortunately we close express checkout otherwise would have had to queue. All in all too big a hotel with basic facilities - reception lifts signs to rooms and spa which do not match the number of bedrooms Would not return.

I've stayed at the Forest of Arden hotel a couple of times while attending conferences. Sadly, I did not have time to play golf or enjoy the spa. I found the hotel itself to be pretty average: decent rooms with no flourishes, staff that do their job efficiently, placed in a very nice country setting close to Birmingham.

It's a decent chain hotel, where you know what you're getting before you arrive. It'll always be acceptable, but there's nothing specific to its location and no unique character to its interiors.

The rooms are clean and tidy, but the bath amenities are a bit on the spare side. It looks like the most recent refurbishment was a good ten years ago, in a building designed at least fifteen years before that.

The breakfast is good, including a chef who makes omelettes to order. Ask for a cappuccino- the coffee in the urns was a bit stewed when I was there last.

The conferencing is done efficiently and properly. There are lots of smaller break-out spaces and at least one large ballroom. I was impressed by the dinner service: the food was well prepared and the staff served our group of some 500 people quickly and efficiently.

All in all, there's not much to complain about, but not much exceptional, either. I'd give the place three-and-a-half stars.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the golf course are very pleasant.
