“Sub-continental delights”
Reviewed 20 June 2013

We were much anticipating our visit to Purnima following all the rave reviews. In general, it didn't disappoint although there were a few niggles which leave room for improvement. The starters and main courses were all excellent; we had a good mix including bengali tilapia and chicken jalfrezi. Curried prawn was good as well as an excellent special stir fry of chicken and prawn. The naans are always a good indication of the quality of a restuarant's tandoor oven and these were perfect. The owner and chef have a great understanding of food and spice/flavour combinations; the style is actually more leaning towards Bangladeshi rather than Indian. If you're brave enough, just tell them what you like and you'll get "off-menu" chef's specials; that's what we'll do next time.

As for niggles - desserts are bought-in frozen products and not particularly inspiring. The restaurant is on a busy street so parking may be a challenge; some parking spaces near-by are for residents only after 6pm.

In summary, great food at good prices from an enthusiastic kitchen. We'll be back!

“Best Indian for the money we've ever had - every time”
Reviewed 16 June 2013 via mobile

We eat at Purnima regularly, almost every other week. We found it purely by chance, having driven past it a number of times and then looking it up on tripadviser. At the time, around 12 months ago, it had a good rating so we thought we'd give it a go. We were not disappointed, and never have been since.

The atmosphere is excellent, the staff extremely friendly, efficient and welcoming, and the proprietor ever the welcoming host.

Food is fantastic! There is a wide range as you would expect, with each living up to expectation and then usually surpassing it. The price is extremely reasonable and given the quality of the food, far less than you would expect. Overall the standard is considerably better than anywhere of similar standing. As regulars, we often try a few specials that aren't on the menu- courtesy of the proprietor.

Since we started going to Purnima we've taken friends and family who have all been equally impressed. They are now regulars too. We never leave disappointed and return time after time, which is the best endorsement we could give!!!

Visit-you won't be disappointed.

“A change from basic baltis!”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

It was lovely to be able to share dishes rather than just have a single balti each - the chef sent out a staff fish curry for us to try which was delicious. Good food and pleasant surroundings with attentive staff.

“Definitely worth a visit”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

Great selection of choices, well presented, good service, particularly accommodating to dietary needs. We really felt very welcome, as if nothing was too much, each dish well presented and very tasty (we were even brought a spare plate in case we wanted to share) the Bangla beer that was recommended was really good.

A little Gem, it is such a pity we live so far away as we would be regulars
