“Centrally located basic hotel”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 via mobile

I stayed here for one night whilst in Birmingham for a training course. The hotel is centrally located, close to the Bullring and Moor Street station, and is close to an NCP car park where you can receive an extremely discounted rate when staying at the hotel.

The hotel was for for purpose for a business stay. It was close to my training venue and near to plenty of restaurants and take aways so it was easy to get some dinner on the evening.

Whilst it is a basic hotel, it would be nicer if there was a restaurant on site for a quick meal and a drink.

Whilst the room was equipped with all I needed I had a few minor gripes. Firstly the room was very warm at night with no air con and it was too warm to leave the window open due to outside noise. I wouldn't want to be staying there on a very hot summer day as the heat would be terrible. Plug sockets closer to the bed would be useful for charging phones, laptops etc.

I probably wouldn't stay here for a leisure visit but for a night away on business it was fine, just avoid during the summer unless you want to boil in the room!

Central location.
Very little outside noise.
Clean and warm room with the comfiest bed I have ever slept in..
Ideal place to stay if you are visiting Birmingham and need to be located in the city centre.

I was here for a business trip for a course over the weekend. The hotel is ideally situated and has a 24 hr staffed reception. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean. I had plenty of towels for the first night but one of them was not replaced for the second night. Not sure why but I still had enough. The view is not pretty but there was no street noise. There is no restaurant on site but Tesco Express very convenient for a room breakfast picnic. Breakfast boxes are available but are not exciting/quite processed. Hairdryers are available to borrow from reception but you are asked to return after use. It would be better to have them in the room. Overall I was happy with the facilities BUT...
My Saturday night sleep was badly disturbed by noisy, loud mouthed people using, how shall we say, "colourful" language and lots of slamming doors. This went on periodically until 6am from about 2am. It was intermittent and each time I thought it would be the last but it wasn't. A horrible night leaving me tired and angry the next morning as I had to be up at 7pm for the next days course. Staff were sympathetic but that was all. Someone is supposed to patrol the floors to avoid this sort of thing happening. Maybe a better system needs to be in place.

Room Tip: Staff do say Saturday nights can result in loud behaviour and slamming doors from some people. Take...

This hotel is ideally located for Birmingham City Centre shopping with a short walk to the Bull Ring Shopping Centre. The hotel is clean and staff friendly and the rooms were comfortable, spacious and modern. Unfortunately when we were next in Birmingham we were unable to stay due to a water leak closing the hotel. Would definitely consider booking this hotel again.

I have very little to mark the hotel down on. The location is excellent for Birmingham Centre and the prices exceptional. The only issues I had were that the room was BOILING and even with the window left open was all day was far too hot upon my return (this was on an April weekend - temp in the mid-teens celcius) and the only power socket to charge my phone overnight was as far from the bed as possible. Not ideal when that is also your alarm clock and there is no option for a wake-up call as no phones in the room. Oh, and the wi-fi was pretty expensive. Did not use it (due to cost) so cannot comment on the speed and reliability of it but come on, it is 2014 wifi should not cost!!!

We were just staying for one night in Birmingham and picked this hotel as it had a central location and it turned out to be a great choice. The location couldn't be better - it's close to Moor Street and New Street stations and right by the Bullring. The rooms are quite spacious, clean and comfortable and it was a great deal at less than £45 a night. if you're just looking for a nice, clean basic hotel at a great price then you can't go wrong here. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because the check in isn't until 3pm and they have nowhere to keep your bags if you want to drop them off early. To be fair to them, it does make this clear from their website but I rang to see if they would allow us to do this as I didn't want to walk around with my bag until 3pm. One of the staff said it wouldn't be a problem but when we arrived the woman on reception said the only way we could do this was by paying extra for an early check in (£10). We argued the point for some time, saying that we had already rang to check and eventually she was kind enough to waive the fee and let us have the early check in. Some of the reviews say it's noisy during the night but we all got an excellent night's sleep and if you're going to stay in a central city location there's bound to be some noise. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
