Description: In October 2010, Aston Villa Football Club launched a new training restaurant concept, Restaurant VMF. Our restaurant offers a totally unique dining experience - award-winning food, with spectacular views of the Villa Park pitch. Set in the luxurious surroundings of the Directors Suite, relax in Restaurant VMF and sample our delicious menu, offering locally-sourced dishes which have been cooked and served by our VMF apprentices. In fact, some of the produce used travels from our very own allotment plot, just half a mile away from Villa Park. The allotment is another way the club works with the local community, with young people at the heart of this project. In conjunction with Roots and Renewal, young people grow the produce on an allotment which is now larger than a football pitch! Not only that, our own Aston Villa bees produce honey on the allotment site which is also used in our recipes within Restaurant VMF. In January 2015 Restaurant VMF was proud to be awarded a 2 star rating by the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

“Wonderful Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

We have just returned from the VMF restaurant at Villa Park. The menu was varied and I could have chosen anything on the menu. There were nine adults in our party. We chose a wide range of foods from the menu so had the opportunity to see what was on offer. No one was disappointed. I chose the risotto starter and roast beef main. My only complaint was I could have easily eaten double the amount of risotto as it was so tasty. Service was very good and everyone was helpful. The food was presented beautifully and the restaurant is smart. Admittedly, we are all Villa fans but nevertheless it was relaxed in a great setting. Having the backdrop of the pitch on one side and trees on the other, you might easily have thought you were in a more luxurious place. Highly recommended.

“Sunday Lunch...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

Recently visited VMF on the back of some great reviews for Sunday lunch. Once we found our way through the correct entrance we made our way to the restaurant upstairs in the heart on the main stadium. The view from we sat is a great setting overlooking the ground. Had the terrine of chicken & Bacon for starters served luke warm but found the bacon overpowered the Chicken but was alright, my partner had Risotto which other than the Chorizo element found it a little bland. For main the Roast rib of Beef & posh fish pie where well presented and tasty. For desert we hade a fairly simple cheese cake and cheese & biscuits but was a little disappointing as the biscuits had gone soft, and please add some chutney.

Although the staff where all polite we found the service a little haphazard especially regarding drinks, we had no water on the table and had to grab a staff members attention to get drinks, and had to wait around 15 minutes to get the bill. I guess this is due to a lack of experience which you might expect from a training restaurant.

To summarise I would say VFM offers a great setting, a good atmosphere with food that you would get from a good family pub, friendly staff but maybe not fully focused on service but everyone has to learn somewhere.

“Great meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

We ate here Saturday and had a really good meal and it was very good value for money. I could have eaten anything on the menu, a very good choice. The staff were training but polite and efficient. Nice surroundings over looking the pitch. I would certainly return.

“Excellent Training resteraunt”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

We visited this resteraunt after finding it by chance on Trip Advisor. What drew us to go...
1) husband is an Aston Villa fan and the resteraunt looks over the ground, 2) Its a training resteraunt employing local young people, 3) They get all their fruit, vedg and herbs from their own local allotment and 3) vaule for money.

I've read previous reviews on this resteraunt, some ranting that it didn't deserve to be right at the top of Trip Advisor above other michelin starred resteraunts in Birmingham. My response would be.....if you want michelin starred food then why would you EVER think a resteraunt charging £22.50 per head would be michelin star quality? GET REAL!

So my review:

This resteraunt is well laid out, the table was beautifully set and the waiting staff (although they seemed a little nervous at the start) were great.

We have a very good three course meal, really tasty and excellent value for money at £22.50 per head.

Aston Villa should be very proud and shout about this resteraunt, the fact that they are employing training young people is great, then you can read about their local allottment which uses rain water collected from the stadium roofs and also give 200 local young people the opportunity to work on the allotment, some of which come from 'at risk' homes and environments.

This is a great resteraunt, a great idea and if your wondering....then book a table and go an enjoy it.

We will certainly be back for more good food and to support this local business.
