“Even as a neutral, good day out”
Reviewed 16 October 2012

For a good day out to watch football in a well presented stadium, Birmingham Football Ground at St Andrews does the business. I have visited it many times and the best part it is so children friendly. the place is clean relative to many other grounds... pity about the quality of the football from BFC at the moment. But good value

“Good conference facilities - a pity about the lunch”
Reviewed 8 October 2012

The venue is well signposted as the home of Birmingham City FC, and a large free car park is in front of the conference centre.

The conference was held in three rooms, two set out cabaret style with round tables, and the other had some exhibition stands. Lighting was adequate, and the sound system worked well. The exhibition/refreshment area was a little crowded for the number of delegates. All rooms and corridors were very tidy and well maintained, and decorated with photographs and other memorabilia from the Club's 137 year history.

Lunch was scheduled for 1215hrs; nothing was available at that time. Eventually after almost half an hour, some packed lunches arrived in brown paper bags, and then a number of large trays containing chips (which were delicious), some dips, kebabs and finally some cakes, biscuits etc. The conference did manage to restart at 1315hrs as scheduled, but delegates were rushed, and did not make the most of the food that was available. Delegates were not offered any apology/explanation for the problems experienced with the lunch.

On leaving the venue at 1600hrs some of the nearby roads seem to have seized up with traffic; the venue arranged for a number of taxis to ferry delegates to New Street station, which was thoughtful; it is about a 20 minute walk away. All venue staff encountered were friendly and helpful.

The venue will need to improve its efficiency regarding catering if it is to succeed in this competitive market.
