Modern, new, high-tech, attractively furnished hotel. Booking just over a week before staying meant £120 per person per night (twin room) without breakfast - £14.00 p.p.: Pretty standard but well cooked. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi. Technical, person-less airport type check-in/out via keyboards embedded in columns in reception worked for few people. Hotel seems to concentrate on groups and conferences. Food in restaurant no more than 6/10 - minimalist and overcooked. Charged a service charge, tip and gratuity on same bill. Member of staff explained that some diners "just pay" and others "get annoyed" - perhaps "the management will change it" (sic).
Special advance request for room on high floor was declined at reception, despite fact that hotel was not full. Owners said to be experienced but obviously need more learning!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that face the "building site" side of the hotel, facing towards Selfridges...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We do have a vast amount of experience in the industry however we are also building a product for our customers today and not on for any past venues and with this we are very open to listening to our customers and learning about what they think will make us the number one venue in Birmingham. It was the food and beverage teams decision to add a service charge and they are in control of this money, however I agree that stating this and a tip is unacceptable and we will take steps to change this immediately. As part of our planning permission we had to implement a green energy programme which allocates all guests in the same area of the hotel when all rooms are not full. This however can be overridden should a guest prefer a room outside this system and we will ensure training takes place to help with this. As for the your experience in Aalto, 6/10 is not where we intend to be and we will be looking at this carefully with the team so that continually we are reaching better scores than this. I do hope that you will stay with us again and please make yourself known to me or one of my colleagues when you are next here and we can see if you feel that we have improved which is what we intend to do. We stayed here for one night for a treat and we were not disappointed.
One first arrival the lobby definitely has the wow factor in an otherwise dreary part of the world. The Christmas decorations are stunning!
We checked in quickly and easily using the electronic system assisted by the receptionist and were in our room within ten minutes.
The room was comfortable clean and felt a cut above many other hotels as the finishing touches were all carefully considered and of high quality.
The bed was big and comfortable and the hower Devine!
Breakfast was fresh and plentiful with great choice and the service from each staff member we encountered was excellent !
My only criticism would be the bar pries. £10.40 for a single glass of wine!!!! Honestly! There is no justification for this at all especially as there are many bars and restaurants within easy reach.
Having said that I would stay there again but would steer clear of the bar!

Book through the Hotel La Tour website for dinner, room, and breakfast and was massively impressed.

Food and service were excellent and the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was the best we have had at a hotel. Only paid £129 all in and that includes £60 off your dinner bill.

Amazing good value, a perfect stay.

Stayed for a Saturday night and really felt welcomed by the friendly staff. We ate in the restaurent and really enjoyed the food. Best part was the excellent breakfast. Lots of choice, well presented and all fresh and warm. Also lots of helpful cheery staff which gave a pleasant atmosphere. Only minor gripe was lack of bathtub - even in the exec room (although do appreciate this is a city location). However a design fault on the walk in shower meant a very wet floor ( hope they can sort that as the rooms and decor are lovely).

All in all a great deal - good packages available as well as cheap, secure parking at Selfridges. Definitely recommended and will stay again.

Please stay at this hotel you will not be disappointed ,the rooms are brilliant ours had touch button controls for the lighting,a king size bed and even a tv in the bath room. the staff are great and couldn't do enough for you and all this in a great central location.

we went for a large party, very pleasant ,,, cant rememeber too much about it,, very good party.
breakfast was a blur,, dinner more so, but can say it was clean, tidy, staff were pleasant,,,
Rooms were clean, bed was comfy.

When me and my friend arrived at the hotel both the service and accommodation were fabulous, 5* cosmopolitan luxury is how I'd describe this hotel. The room was beautiful, the bed so comfy! The touchscreen for the lighting added an extra sense of class and luxury to the hotel. The bathroom was so spacious and the shower was amazing! The bar staff were extremely friendly and the food from the hotel restaurant was beautiful! An overall great stay in a beautiful hotel, would recommend it!

Room Tip: Even the standard room was great and such good quality for money!
