“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2013 via mobile

We stayed in a wonderful superior room taking advantage of the showstopper package. The room was lovely spent far too much time in the glorious bath. The food was lovely especially the dessert platter we had on return from our show. Would definitely book again.

Very good for city centre access- staff helpful and very polite.
I found the check out procedure a bit quirky ( a bit like paying for a car parking ticket) although staff were quick to assist

i agree with other comments ref the dining area

Its a huge place with high quality fixtures and fittings -

I booked via online channel and got a reduced rate on published prices- upgrade price for breakfast was high - although nice to have it cooked fresh.

If you need city centre access and dont mind a city centre view i would say go

Didnt have car parking to consider though and i got the impression that this could be a challenge

Have stayed at La Tour last summer and had a wonderful time. Beautiful rooms, amazing features. Didn't have time to use all the hotel facilities but they looked excellent.
Visited this weekend with my partner and our friend to enjoy a fantastic afternoon tea at the Aalto Restaurant.
What an experience! Staff were second to none, so welcoming and kind. We were offered a free round of drinks while we waited and were shown to our lovely table very quickly.
Food was FANTASTIC. Better than afternoon tea we have had in London, and a fraction of London prices.
Very modern twist of the traditional tea.
Looking forward to visiting again, would like to stay for longer next time!
Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful afternoon.

Room Tip: Views are not brilliant, our room overlooked a building site. May have changed since summer 2012, bu...

Stayed for two nights in one of there Superior Rooms very nice with a separate rainfall shower and large deep bath, beds where firm and comfortable and the room was of a good size.

The Staff all round excellent and very friendly from the lady who cleaned my room had a big smile and was happy to deal with my query to the Head Chef - Dan (a star in the making) who was more than happy to accommodate my wish for a special dish, as well as the restaurant staff who where very helpful and more than willing to offer recommendations when asked - and they where right !!

Will I be Back ? most defiantly yes

Tip - Park in the pay and display across the road £10 for 24hrs parking - come and go as many times as you want

Have just returned from an excellent two night stay here. Great location only few mins walk and you are at the bullring. Fantastic value parking - 5 pounds for while weekend if park in Moore street selfridges car park and have hotel validate your ticket. Hotel is clean luxurious and high tech! Beds big and comfy, fabulous double power showers and rooms quiet. Yes the views aren't super pretty but this is a hotel in centre of Birmingham! Staff very friendly and helpful. Only gripe is limited room service menu after 10pm but this is minor. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on this . Of we return to Birmingham would definitely stay here again :)

In comparison to other hotels I have rated 4 stars this one deserved 4.5. Great location - you can walk to it from Birmingham New Street station if you don't have many bags (one small trolley case) - takes about 10 mins and is difficult to miss. Walk towards Birmingham Moor Street station and you will spot it just as you pass the station. Check in is a bit strange at first - all done on a touch screen computer terminal that the receptionist takes you through. However, probably the first time that a hotel has actually actioned my request for a quiet room. Room large, spotless, comfy bed, free wifi, nice toiletries, fluffy towels, lovely shower (no bath), all the amenities you would need. Breakfast is ok - continental options could improve but good coffee more than made up for it. Restaurant lacks atmosphere - a bit cavernous and floor to ceiling windows make it a bit cold. No business centre but Justin on reception very helpfully printed out a presentation for me - could do with a business centre given it has conference facilities. All staff I came into contact with were friendly, courteous and genuinely wanted to help - their customer service training was very evident. Gym was a bit of a let down - very small, limited machines, TV not connected. Beware - drinks in the bar are very overpriced - £10.50 for a glass of Sav B. You are within walking distance of the Bullring and lots of restaurants and bars so would advise eating out. Could be a 5 star with small changes but still a very nice, reasonably priced hotel.

Good value hotel. Very comfortable kingsize bed. Standard room only had shower and no bath. Don't expect a good view from a standard room. Floor to ceiling windows were a nice touch even though our view was over a building site. Hi tech hotel. Helpful staff. Cheap parking nearby. £5 for 24 hours if you get your receipt validated by hotel staff (parking on mainstream car park at Selfridges). Hotel staff couldn't give me a complimentary upgrade that I requested on line as it was my birthday and my view from the large window was of a building site. Overall a good hotel within easy walk to the bullring. May stay again if I return for an overnight stay.

Room Tip: You will need to pay for an upgrade or a good view. I requested both and was told on arrival my requ...
