“great modern hotel”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

Spent a couple of nights, mid week. in an executive room. Excellent decor, cleanliness, T V , and a comfortable bed, but the pillows were so hard. I notice previous guests made similar comments and I am suprised a hotel of this standard does not have a pillow menu.available.
The modern tech. was great, Lighting controls from the bed was brilliant (as were the speakers in the bathroom).
The parking arrangement at Selfridges worked well and was good value
Quality of food at dinner and breakfast was excellent.with really helpful staff.
We had afternoon tea one day which was O K - no more -.but It lacked a certain finesse. Afternoon tea in a good hotel should be a theatrical experience which this was not.
Change the pillows, so I could have a reasonable nights sleep and I would give 5* rating.

This hotel is great, the room we stopped in was spotless and modern with a very roomy bed which was really comfortable. The staff on reception were attentive and professional. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We parked at the Selfridges car park and paid just a fiver for over 24 hours of parking. We would definitely go here again and would certainly recommend.

Looking for an overnight stay in Birmingham with my wife to celebrate a birthday and do a little Christmas shopping. Decided to treat ourselves and picked the hotel after reading Trip Advisor reviews. Rather than stay on the Saturday night, we chose Sunday night and were offered the same room for half the price and, at Reception, an upgrade to an Executive room at no extra cost. Great value and good PR. Hotel has its own car park just a couple of minutes from Reception - a real bonus.
Great location for the city centre. Check-in quick and trouble-free. Room and bathroom spotless and well equipped with all the latest technology and great TV. We had dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed tasty food and attentive service.

Nothing to complain about at all. On the contrary; a real treat to stay there. We'll be back!

Room Tip: High standard rooms anyway but for best views you may need to choose an Executive room.

I stayed here for business on a weekday night. I thought the location was a bit out of the way, no bars or restaurants close by, so you need to walk for 5 minutes to get to the bullring, or 15 to get to the mailbox, no big deal.

The hotel is very nice, clean, modern with very nice, stylish rooms. couple of issues with the rooms, the phone was supposed to control the lights, and it didn't, and the wardrobe is behind the bed, in a dark corner, and it was very hard to see what was in there, it was very dark, even with all the lights on full. Great TV, and great facility to bluetooth your phone audio into the room sound system. very nice bed, and very nice bathroom.

Good buffet breakfast, and check in and check out was simple using the self service system.

all in all, very nice, I would return if a more central hotel wasn't available.

Location perfect, Staff very helpful. This hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Food is excellent. However service was very slow, which was rather disappointing . The staff did respond well and made an adjustment to the bill. Only a small complaint, the pillows are very hard. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. A most enjoyable stay and very well priced.

Room Tip: We stayed in an executive room at no extra cost.

Thanks for posting a review about your time here at La Tour. Clearly we didn’t delight you as much as we would have hoped. We are continually building a product to be delivered at the highest standard for our guests and with this we are very open to listening to our customers feedback as to what they think will make us the number one venue in Birmingham so thank you for your comments. Clearly we have improvements to make in Aalto restaurant in relation to speed of service however I am glad to read your comment were dealt with professionally in the restaurant. Hope to see you back soon. Kind Regards – Jane Riley

A typically plush inner city business hotel with a modern twist. Very friendly and efficient staff. Clean and tidy and a good breakfast. The location was great and a good starting point for an evening. Zero complaints would highly recommend.

We stayed overnight here when attending a concert at the NIA which is a slightly confusing but very convenient 15 minute walk away. More signposts please Brum! The hotel is lovely, clean and the rooms well-appointed. We liked the extra security in the corridors and didn't hear any noise from our neighbours - unusual these days. The furnishings in the bar are lovely and we had an excellent afternoon tea - great value at £19.95. The breakfast buffet was delicious too.

A few niggles - the shower was lukewarm and we couldn't seem to make it hotter at all. The service in the bar late at night was a bit off-hand. But, other than that, we couldn't fault it. Would definitely stay again to take in some more of the city and I'd forgotten quite how fab Birmingham is.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay here with us at Hotel La Tour. It delights me to read you were pleased with the design and security of the hotel and I will ensure your comments about the Afternoon Tea are shared with the team. I can only apologise about the Luke warm shower, unfortunately we an external flow of water into the hotel for a period of time on Sunday morning which in turn caused a delay in Hot Water throughout the hotel. I believe this to be an isolated incident and hope it can be avoided in the future; We look forward to welcoming you back when you return to our ‘fab Birmingham’ Kind regards – Jane Riley
