“Weekend in Birmingham”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Went to Birmingham to see the Indoor athletics. Stayed at Premier Inn Canal Side which was excellently placed, just a few minutes walk to the arena and all the restaurant areas. The staff were really helpful - got our jeans dried out after being caught in heavy rain! It was clean and really quiet, no outside noise disturbance. Would certainly stay there again.

Hi Cath H,

Thank your for taking the time to write this review. I do hope you enjoyed the Athletics. I'm glad to hear the team helped to dry your clothes as the weather was horrible on the day.
As you said our location is idea for the National Indoor Arena and I'm pleased to hear you had everything you needed during your stay.
We hope to be able to welcome you again.

We spent a night here when in Birmingham for a concert at the Symphony Hall. The positives are the great central location and good value car park. Reception staff were also very friendly The room and bed were comfy (although the deadlock didn't work properly - we reported this to the receptionist). However, unlike the more modern Premier Inns that we have stayed in elsewhere in the city, the sound-proofing is poor. We were awake from the early hours of the morning, disturbed by the plumbing and noises from our neighbours (above and adjacent), We were also dismayed to return from breakfast to find our room door open (fortunately we had already taken most of our belongings to the car before breakfast). We reported this to the receptionist who confirmed that she would take up the matter with Housekeeping.

Hi Newnhamites,
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I do hope that you enjoyed the concert at the Symphony Hall.
Unfortunately there are occasions where you can hear a little noise from your neighbours but hope that this didn't outweigh the good points of your stay.
The issue with your door being found open on your return from breakfast has been investigated and I can assure you that this is not a regular occurrence and actions have now been taken so this can not happen again.
I hope that we can look forward to welcoming you in the near future.
Kind regards

Becky

After a long drive and arriving late, I had a very warm welcome and a great night sleep, what more could you ask for. Oh and very helpful staff for those extra needs, like 'where is the nearest shop' Car parking great value and so close to great restaurants and the ICC Centre. I want to go back and explore some more...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a great review for our hotel. I have passed your comments on to my team and are so pleased to have been able to provide those few extra little things, making your stay worth while . We are in a great location here at Canalside, close enough to everything that Birmingham to offer , the Mailbox and Broad Street and all the shops that you could ever need just 10 minutes away in the Bullring.
We hope to welcome you back to explore some more very soon!

Kind Regards

Ideal if you are going to use the mailbox, or go to one of the theatres.

Mailbox is visible from the car park and less than a 10 minute walk.

Great base to use and would definitely come back and stay again.

Breakfast was lovely.

We would definitely recommend this Premier Inn, all the staff were great and very helpful as this was our first visit to Birmingham for 20+ years. The car park is a definite bonus ! It is well located for food, pub and arts and entertainment and everything is within a safe easy walk. Will definitely return when we come back to Birmingham.

We had a room with a canal view which was nice, much better than looking over the car park. The reception staff were very friendly. Room was compact but this is not helped by the massive bed, it was clean and tidy. Evening meal was ok but nothing special, however Bernie one of the servers was great. Breakfast was much better than the evening with loads of choice for £9. Plan to stay again in future but would eat elsewhere in the evening.
