We stayed here for one night as the location is perfect for the NIA. The check in was really quick, thanks to the helpful Sharon on reception who also helped with directions around the local area.
I have to agree with kimgammon's review where noise is concerned, our room was close to the lifts and right over the entrance to the bar so we heard bumps and bangs until the early hours which spoiled our sleep. Why/how people make so much noise walking through a door and down a corridor is beyond me...
Our room was smaller than a usual Premier Inn room, but this was explained on their website so it didn't come as a surprise. The bed was really comfy and the room and bathroom were clean and tidy, but slightly tatty around the edges. (Marks on wall, chipped paintwork etc)
Breakfast was good, and again, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast was piping hot and good quality, There was also a good selection of light bites on the continental buffet.
We'd probably stay here again, but would ask for a different room.

We stayed here to be near the canal and location has been great. However inconsiderate guests and traffic noise has spoilt the stay as we haven't slept much . Wouldn't recommend it because of trFfic noise and very small room much smaller than any other premier inn.

Stayed here for a gig at the 02 Academy, which was in adequate walking distance. Room was clean, and had a great view of the canal. Had breakfast in the restaurant, which was great. Would definitely stay here again. In close proximity to the Bull Ring and Birmingham New street station.
Had a peaceful nights sleep.

Rooms were comfortable smaller than other premier inn, very nice location next to canal and near main links of all transport, as we travel a lot I like to make the most of a lie in and 12 oclock check out, however the maids woke us up hoovering and banging outside the room quite early, nice morning wake up call!!! Other than that very cosy, pub is nice and staff are friendly

Stayed here for a trip to the Symphony Hall to see Runrig. Hotel is easy to find using a Satnav and is a great location 5min walk to the Hall and also to the Mailbox which has wonderful bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel is very clean and staff friendly although the bar is small if busy however there isn't a problem sitting in the restaurant area. They also have a space out the back with benches which is on the Gas Basin Canal side and is lovely and probably a sunny spot in the summer. Our room was lovely and very clean and modern. Well heated and ventilated. A bit of noise from someone shouting outside but this I think is due to vents in the windows being open and not general wall thinness!!!
Our only concern was the delay for the cooked breakfast. The staff were dealing with a large volume of guests late in the morning we got there around 1030 and after 15mins had our order taken. We finally received our food at 1140 and I even went to Reception to say we may be late checking out due to our brekkie not arriving.
I think this is probably just a usual Sunday occurrence if the hotel is busy on a Saturday night and we all want a lie in!!

However the parking is cheap £5 for the 24hrs and we had a lovely walk along the canal etc after breakfast before the 24hrs were up and left for home. The hotel and staff are great and we've already booked for two nights in December.

Hi Drumilar,
Thanks you for taking the time to write such a detailed review.
Firstly I'm glad you managed to find the hotel easily and that our location was ideal for you to visit the Symphony Hall.
We are lucky to be able to offer outdoor seating for our guests to be able to enjoy food and drink when the weather is nice.
I will look into what caused the delay in your breakfast and will look to ensure this doesn't happen in the future.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Canalside in December.
Kind regards
Becky

Just what you'd expect from a Premier Inn. Right in the heart of Birmingham. Easy walk from New St station, and hotel over-looks the canal. Canal was great for an evening stroll, with bars and fantastic restaurants within 5 mins walk - felt like we were in Venice, not Birmingham. 5-10min stroll to shopping areas. Fantastic!
