“Terrible food”
Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

Following its recent refurb i have to say the place looks great, they've done wonders with it. I'm also pleased to say that we found the staff to be really friendly and helpfull so its a real shame that the food (and i use that word loosely here) was so completely awfull. We visited on a monday lunchtime so it was not busy as there were only a few others in the dining area. We ordered 2 steak and mushroom sandwiches and a kids steak and we were asked how we wanted our steak cooked - i can tell you that we didnt want our steak to be cremated several days ago and then thrown into a microwave for a few minutes just to make sure that it was as close to shoe leather as possible. Still, the chips were alright. To be fair to them we didnt complain as i didnt see the point, so they didnt have the opportunity to put this right. I dont think we'll ever be eating here again.

Eight of us went out for a 16th birthday party on a busy Saturday night, the service was fantastic, food was great, overall we all had a really good night and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

“Old haunts”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

This was a blast from the past for us. St Bernard's Grange seems to have been an drinking/eating place forever. Its been taken over and refurbished by All Inns and they have made a good job of the menu. 2-4-1 is always a bargain and also as it has recently opened again we had a free bottle of wine.

Meals were very good and hot. Steaks looks just as we like them although we did find them a bit chewy. It was a lunchtime service so fairly quiet but on a Saturday evening could be very busy and it is a large place with lots of smaller rooms. There is even a children's play area which looked interesting.

Would we go again? Maybe for old times sake.

“A let down”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

As this is our local and has been recently done up, my husband and I took our 2 children there for a meal. We arrived at approx 6pm and being a Saturday night it was understandably busy. We were given a reserved table and my Husband stood quite a while at the bar to place our order. We were told that there was a 45 min wait for food but decided we would stay anyway. However, after over 1 hour the adult meals were brought out. After a few minutes we asked as to where the children's meals were?? No one seemed to know and didn't seem to understand the urgency due to it now getting late. After a few more min I asked for the adult meals to be taken away as they were getting cold due to the fact that we would not eat until the kids meals came out. This seemed to cause confusion! Eventually after approx 10 more min, and complaining to 2 members of staff and a manager all the meals were brought out. The food was ok but not great. My Husband had asked for a full refund which we were given. After our meal no one collected our plates so I had to go to the bar and request this as we were also waiting for the kids ice creams . Very disappointing evening, even our kids don't want to go back. Was hoping for better from our local.

“Great improvement!”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

As it is one of our locals thought we'd give it a try as it has had a refurbishment & taken over by All-inns. Two entrances bar & restaurant. Was told to book a table which I did online. The bar & restaurant have been modernised & have a good atmosphere. Was busy but the staff made time to make sure everything was ok. Food 2 4 1 & all four of us were pleased with our meals. We did have a while to wait but didn't mind as our drinks were brought over & informed us of the wait before meal. I had the Wexford chicken was really nice & food hot! Went into the bar as had live singer. Added bonus. Great to have a good local. Hope it stays that way! The photo needs updating on here as this one is the before shot!
