“Great Value close to everything”
Reviewed 9 October 2007

I stayed here with my partner for a weekend of shopping etc. Found the hotel to be very clean and the rooms were very comfortable. Very close to all the amenities on Broad Street and the shopping on New Street / Bullring. I will be staying there again.

Stayed one night on a very quick 'late arrival, early departure' trip, which I why I didn't bother with the extra £70 for the Hyatt 5 minutes away. There is nothing wrong with this property - friendly staff, well kept rooms and its a new-build, less than 2 years old I guess.

They are tight on the toiletries (no soap, only a dispenser) and the towels are a bit thin, but this is standard for a UK HIE and you get a tea and coffee tray. Rooms certainly not huge (20 sq m?) but do the job. Breakfast is free but not the best I've had - a far thinner selection than, say, the Express in Newcastle I stayed in earlier in the year. It does the job, though - tea / coffee, juice, cereal, croissants, toast, yoghurts - and there is a pile of free Independent newspapers in reception.

It is, pathetically, a major improvement on the 'twice as pricey' Crowne Plaza about 5 minutes away. The Hyatt remains the best branded property in this little hotel zone (which includes the Copthorne, CP and HIE), though, and you should certainly stay there instead if the price difference is modest. I paid £99 midweek which is steep for a HIE but weekend rates would be far lower.

  • Liked — Clean, new, tea and coffe tray
  • Disliked — Room a little small but, for the money, no major issues

Stayed at this hotel on business in mid-September.
Reception was efficient if not too friendly.
I was given a room on S Floor which is certainly the floor to have as these rooms are modern and refurbished. Colleagues on higher floors complained of tardy decor .
Breakfast was very wholesome and the service attentive.
At 6.45am I requested an iron - it was with me by 6.55.
All in all if given the right room there is nothing wrong with this hotel .

We stayed here for one night for a shopping trip to Birmingham. The hotel staff were always very helpfull and polite and made you feel very welcome.
The rooms were quite small but perfect for a short stay. The rooms have full air conditioning, tv and wi fire. The shower was one of the best ever experienced in a hotel very powerfull. Tea and coffee facilities available in all rooms but lacking on the biscuit front! Breakfast was fine lots of cereal, coissants and fruit jucies to choose from.
The location of the hotel was great, just a 10 min walk to the Bull Ring and a short stroll from the Mail Box. The street the hotel is located on is very quiet and we experienced no noise from city revelers.
The car park was very straight foreward and there is a lift from it up to the reception area.
Would stay here again and recommend to others.

I t was one of the best hotels I have sayed in, i n a very long time. The exterior does not look like anything speical but inside is another thing. The hotel has recently been refurbished. My room was nice and clean and bright. Nice bathroom. Mini briege and playstation in the room.

The breakfast was a very nice buffet all ou can eat in cerials and english breakfast. Lovely freshly squeesed orange juice not the concentrated stuff you get. The hotel was perfect.

Stayed here for one night mid week. Excellent location , close to city centre and brindley place. Able to park in secure underground car park. ( lots of spaces). Check in was quick. Room was standard, but was clean, in good decorative order with a comfy bed and powerful shower. No bath, but for one night that didnt bother us. Staff were helpful with answering questions and ordering taxis. Had a really good sleep as it was great and quiet. Breakfast was included. It was continenental but there was an excellent choice of cereals, fruit, yogurt, breads, muffins , croissants etc., Free newspaper was also available in the morning from the reception desk.

This hotel is excellent value for money ( £55), basic but has everything you need!.
