My partner and I felt that the hotel did not live up to expectations. I am no hotel snob, and get annoyed when people moan about budget hotels, as you get what you pay for- a bed for the night and a hot shower in the morning- but this is described as stylish and modern, with lots of extras so we were expecting a lot. In fact what we got was compariable to Travelodge. Had we known that it would have been of a similar standard, we would've stayed at a Travelodge and bought breakfast from a cafe, or taken cereal with us, which is what we would usually do. However, as we thought we would be staying somewhere "nice", we decided to treat ourselves. There were a good selection of pastries, toast, cereal, fruit etc which was very nice, but it was the only real difference between that and TL in our eyes so for us it was not worth paying the additional. The WiFi was free and we did use it, but more because it was there- we both have data included on our phone packages. Also at least Travelodge's beds are comfortable- ours was rock hard. I didn't feel the rooms were particularly stylish, the bathroom especially looked dated. Also, I feel the "All-Inclusive" promise is misleading as parking is charged at £12.00 a night. Fortunately I found a deal to get this free, had it not been, the cost of the room for the night would've come to £71.00. Overall, the room wasn't bad, apart from the bed but definately felt that the room was mis-sold, and made out to be far better than it really was.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your stay at the ibis Styles Birmingham Centre. I am sorry to hear that the hotel did not meet your expectations. I understand that the design and concept of the hotel may not appeal to all tastes and we appreciate your feedback.

There are many more ibis Styles around the UK with all different designs. I hope that you will reconsider the brand when planning your next trip.

There seemed to be a conference on, so there were limited hotel options in the centre / Broad Street area.

The positives: central (although worth mapping out route first to avoid zigzaging around the inner ring road on foot ), clean, friendly staff (as with everywhere in Birmingham ), good sized room with TV, desk, good mattress and pillows and the earlier comment about not cancelling pre-authorized credit cards has clearly been addressed.

The negatives : can't open window, so if you enjoy sleeping in a fresh environment, you'll be forced to have the loud air conditioning on, which ruined my sleep (the main reason most people book a hotel??), otherwise the room was nice and quiet if your happy sleeping in a stuffy sauna.
The breakfast while limited, did have mini danish, fresh fruit though I dread to think what constituent ingredients went into the "fruit juice" and "coffee" machine, good news though, as you walk into the centre, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants which were open early offering fresh fruit juice, a black liquid which looked, smelled and tasted like coffee and if you're not watching your waist line (heaven forbid ) you can even buy bacon, sausage, eggs and other ingredients for a "full English breakfast ".

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review of your stay at the ibis Styles Birmingham Centre. I am sorry to hear that you had a poor nights sleep with us due to the air conditioning making a noise. We will ensure that this is passed onto the maintenance department.

Your feedback is much appreciated and we are pleased that you felt the hotel was clean, friendly and in a good location.

Stayed here 12-16th May on a work trip. Lovely spacious rooms and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I think I've ever experienced. A good location and has a fantastic pub (The Shakespeare) next door which does fantastic food and a great range of beers. Will stay here again when back down on another course in September.

Myself fiancé our one year old son and our 7 year old cousin stayed in this hotel for two nights. The hotel is lovely, the rooms we're clean fresh and stylish. Staff we're friendly and helpfull with directions. It is really close to the city centre so a good bus and train link near by so you can go we're you like. Bed was comfy. Also hot drinks are available for free all day and night wich is very nice, breakfast was ok just simple. I would definetly stay again and recommend the hotel to others so glad I chose this over others.

Stayed here to go to the NEC and then Broad Street after. Booked a room for 3 adults, a big bed and then a rubbish sofa bed which is what we expected. Less than a 10 min walk to New Street train station and about 5 min walk (in heels) for Broad Street. After 11pm there is a man with a clipboard waiting to check people back in, so you can't add extra people into your room if you haven't paid! Would stay here again but would probably try a travelodge or premier inn first as i think they are a bit cheaper and you get the same thing really. Also breakfast was included however it was really basic continental and they ran out of everything, food, cutlery and mugs.

This hotel is a regular stay for our family. We travel to Birmingham frequently to visit family and have stayed here for the last 5 visits.

Check in and out always runs smoothly and quickly.

The reception staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Never rude and always hospitable.

Cleaniness is first class and the decoration is bright and modern looking. Carpets are spotless.

The double bed is very comfortable and cosy. The sofabed is also spacious and comfortable.

Location is apsolutely brilliant as walking distance to centre and New Street Station. Not much disturbance encountered.

Breakfast is continental and is included in price free of charge. Variety is good but breakfast could be improved with for example scrambled eggs or beans. Overall enjoyable breakfast. Drinks from machine are free all day long and this is a very good treat which I have not encountered in other hotels. The children love it especially when they are thirsty. Please keep this up as it really does seperate you from other hotels.

Hotel carpark is secure and always space to park. It costs £12 per day which appears dear but this is a central location and most other hotels charge the same.

This is a budget hotel and price is very reasonable for standards and service. Even free newspapers.

We will be returning again in near future as we never ecounter any problems with this hotel and we enjoy ourselves. Thats why we have become regulars.

Thank you to all staff who treated us well on our last visit Easter bank holiday Fri /Sat. See you again soon.
