Chose this hotel as was going to a restaurant near snow hill. The entrance is lovely, and the room was small but nice. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. If I came back to Birmingham I'd stay here again. It's close enough to everything, without being right by the noise of the clubs and bars.

The breakfast was good quality and the waitress was so friendly. It was £115 for the room or £135 for breakfast, which was worth the extra.

We paid £20 to valet our car, and it was worth the convenience.

We stayed overnight with a group of friends. Our rooms weren't ready on arrival and the receptionist was a bit vague but once we got into our room, it was lovely, reasonably spacious and with some nice touches in the way it was finished. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the main shopping area and close to various pubs and bars but we chose to eat in the hotel bistro. The meal we had was very nice and we thought good value although the service did let it down. Checking out was a bit chaotic in the morning - be prepared to queue!
Overall a pleasant, well-located place to stay but perhaps they need to up their game on service.

The hotel is set in a really impressive building. You totally get the sense of the hospital it used to be. We ate in the bistro which was good and the breakfast was very generous. We have stayed previously many years ago and I remember the bar being full of cigar smoke so it was nice to chill on the sofas and enjoy the bad. Out room felt like it could do with a refurb but to be fair we got a great price so we were not too worried about that. Overall very enjoyable experience.

We chose the hotel mainly for its city centre location and enjoyed our one night. The room was enormous, with lovely high ceilings and a large bathroom, with probably the best shower I have ever found in a hotel.

A few little downsides: I thought the fact that the rooms had names rather than numbers was odd, as there was no signposting to help you find your room. Also, the TV was very small for such large room. Valet parking was good, but it would have helped if I had been told that I needed to go to the hotel first, rather than spending a fruitless 30 mins looking for the Hotel du Vin reserved parking area in an absolutely crammed Snow Hill car park. Finally, our reception when we arrived was perfunctory rather than enthusiastic. We got the impression that we were interrupting the receptionist's morning, rather making her day. All other staff were, however, very helpful.

Room Tip: We had a superior twin room, which was very good. Not sure how this compares to other rooms in the hotel.

Visited the hotel as a 40th Birthday celebration for my friend. Lovely rooms and excellent amenities. Dinner was included in our stay and was superb.
Bathrooms were beautifully appointed with a bath to totally relax in!
Only downside was the breakfast. It took a while to be served and my English breakfast was an inedible disaster as the egg tasted of soap and grit and put me off the whole meal. The waiter was apologetic and offered alternatives, but I chose to drink plenty to help remove the taste.
A very distressing end to what had been a wonderful weekend.
