“Shocking ”

I attended a conference and thankfully didn't have to stay at the hotel. The car park is derelict and a bit of a dumping ground, hence no charge.

The building could be incredible but is poorly maintained and dirty.

There were numerous asylum seekers (I assume) lolling over sofas on communal areas , staring at you whilst on smart phones which for many was intimidating,

Food was reasonable for a hot and cold buffet but this place needs to decide if it is a hotel or a hostel.

I would never book a room whilst it remains so neglected and is more hostel than hotel.

I am not sure what to make of this comment. The "derelict" car park is a free facility provided by the Paragon Hotel for the convenience of our hotel guests, unlike other hotels whose derelict car parks charge up to £15 for a day's use.

We do have overseas visiting guests staying in the hotel and I am sorry that you received an incorrect impression from seeing them in the lounge waiting for their local hosts.

It is pleasing that you enjoyed your Conference and the Lunch provided with it, and I hope that you will visit us again for the next conference or for a private visit.

Thank you for your very welcome comments. We find that numerous guests are so quick to complain but very few take the time to compliment.

We are pleased that you liked the Paragon and enjoyed your stay. Our staff team are happy to hear your comments and that you have recognised their efforts and the service they work so hard to provide.

Please come back and stay with us again the next time you visit Birmingham

I stayed last Friday and had a room on the third floor, new room, very clean and fresh and had new bath room. For the money I had paid for stay I was well chuffed.

The staff were great, true professionals especially (Mo) the guy on reception he made my evening he directed me to the best hot spots in Birmingham and what a night.

The bar was great in the hotel before we went out, affordable drinks and a good crowd.

I defenently will be staying at this hotel.

Thanks to all the staff

Your very positive comments are greatly appreciated. The Paragon is certainly the place to stay if you're Birmingham for a great night out and need clean comfortable and affordable accommodation with all 'mod cons'.

Its also perfect for business travellers with free car parking, free wifi, and just a short walk form the central commercial / shopping hubs and New St station.

Mo is delighted to be recognised and thanked for his services and joins the rest of our team in looking forward to your next visit.

I went there with my husband for our romantic escape and we stayed at 135 sweet, which was very clean and cosy. We had a great view and its only 5 mins from the city centre. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed the stay and definitely coming back.

Room Tip: 135 sweet great view

I'm glad you enjoyed your romantic weekend escape in Birmingham in a clean cosy room at the Paragon. You must also have loved the shopping opportunities at the fabulous Bullring next to New Street station, just a short easy walk away from the Paragon.

I booked last weekend in Paragon, despite reading some negative reviews, I took a chance. I was checked into a new refurbished room on the third floor, which was very nice. The staff were very friendly So I will recommend other travellers to try this hotel and its only 5 minutes from city centre.

Room Tip: New refurbished rooms are very nice and comfortable

The Paragon certainly does provide excellent value for the very affordable price, and starting from fifth floor downwards soon all our guest rooms will have been refurbished.

I am so pleased that you have enjoyed your stay and taken the time and trouble to post th8s review.

I know there have been many negative reviews in the past but with our new management team and planned phased multi million pound upgrade programme we are all working avidly to improve standards.
