“Filling brunch”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

My partner and I ate at The Lounge today as he'd received a Groupon voucher for Brunch with Prosecco for his Birthday.
We'd booked the table for 11am as we wanted it close to lunch time and this was the latest slot they had for the Sunday however we arrived about 20 minutes early and there was no issue.
The venue it's self is light and airy with some comfortable seating and if, like us, you wanted to sit outside next to the canal they have a few tables available. There were plenty of staff available and the service was excellent, very quick, polite and cheerful.
We chose The Club sandwich which we were told by the waitress was one of their best sellers. A great toasted sandwich built with three rounds of bread, chicken (although this was a little dry), bacon, salad and mayo. It was served with a small bowl of very tasty fries and a side salad with a peppery dressing.
The Prosecco was Prosecco, but was nice as always and served very chilled which was perfect.
Although we were there with a Groupon deal you didn't feel pressured into buying anything extra although we did have a desert each (chocolate fudge cake and Belgian waffles, both served with Movenpick ice cream which was absolutely amazing) and a coke.
All in all we had a lovely brunch and we were quite full up afterwards, would certainly recommend if you want to have a chilled out, relaxing treat!

“Lovely but slow”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

I came here for afternoon tea with some friends, the food was lovely and i think it would be hard to find a nicer variety of cakes for an afternoon tea. I was disappointed with the service, having to continually go to the bar to be served, and each time having to wait 5/10 minutes for a member of staff to serve me, bearing in mind there were always atleast 2 staff members behind the bar, and it is tiny i dont think this is acceptable. I think it would have been nice if we had been offered more tea halfway through, instead we had to go ask and stand and wait again.

At one point a child was sat near to us, playing on her tablet, i think this was the chefs daughter as he came out to her several times. It was distracting slightly annoying at one point when she turned her tablet up and started playing games on it loudly. I only mention this as there were seats further away from us that she could have been sat at, or a pair of headphones maybe?!

I would come again as it was beautiful and the food was lovely. I also think this makes an amazing venue as the view of the canal is lovely.

“Better places”
Reviewed 1 June 2014 via mobile

The brunch menu is ok if you like sandwiches, baguettes and the like, as that's was all that was on offer. The espresso was also below par. The best thing about this place is the view but good luck in finding its front door!
