“visit to Birmingham for Crufts dog show”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

My sister booked this hotel for our visit to Crufts. The main Hilton Hotel was full so they recommended this one. They were asked if dogs were allowed as they are in the main hotel and she was assured they were.. Next she asked about parking and again was assured there was parking. This was an important point as my sister is disabled. When we arrived the Female Manager was on and informed us categorically that no dogs were allowed. Then we discovered they had no dining room and the car park was over a 100 yards up the road and round the corner in an open carpark. Finally our bed for the third person in a so called family room was a campbed.Attitude of manager absolutely appalling

Room Tip: The back of the hotel is quieter

Staff were brilliant. Absolutely spotless. Convenient for centre and NIA etc. Got recommended the Hen and Chicken pub down the road for an indian. It was briliant. Cheap a great food. Met with two Australian girls and one Canadian Girl who were staying in hostel near by and had a brilliant night chatting and having food and a few drinks.

The staff were excellent, could not do enough for us.
The rooms were large, spacious, modern and clean with a walk in shower, no bath.
A short 5 minute walk to the bottom of the jewellery quarter.
The hotel has no parking but the public car park is literally behind the hotel.
NOTE you will have to pay enough to be able to return the following morning to renew before the traffic warden get you.
Unfortunately the cafeteria style breakfast (even down to the orange plastic trays) all be it "complimentary" let the rest of our stay down. Most of the full English was either cold or missing but my wife who is vegetarian enjoyed her continental.
I have marked the hotel as very good but would actually say it fell between average and very good. i.e. Good. but it was only the breakfast that let it down.
We stayed as part of a deal and paid under £60 so at that price we would stay again.

We stayed here for one night with our two young sons. The room was very clean and modern. We slept in a double bed and a sofa bed, both were very comfy and more spacious than others we have stayed in. Unfortunately our stay was let down by the meal in the restaurant in the evening(it was bland at best) and the service at breakfast (virtually non existent). We had to clear away breakfast dishes from previous diners and then wait almost ten minutes for milk and spoons to be replaced. The queue for the hot breakfast was long and very slow so we didn't bother. We also gave up on the hope of a hot drink as the milk ran out for a second time! Such a shame. However, the staff that we did speak to were friendly and for just £75 for a family room there has to be some compromising I suppose.Apart from the restaurant issues this hotel is fine for a simple overnight stay in the city.

Just would like to share that this hotel is good value for money, everything looks new, rooms are clean (we were on the 4th floor, family room for 3), bathrooms are absolutely okay, breakfast place is unconventional (looks a bit like a big home - self service) but satisfactory. But the reason we want to leave a review is that we were welcomed very well by the reception employees (forgot their names but we were there on April 7 in the evening, so hotel managers can probably find out who these employees are). Friendly, helpful, full of good ideas, giving a call to ensure everything was fine in our room....this is quite unusual, you do not get this in many hotels, and thus deserves special recognition.

Stayed here with my friends. Extremely happy with the cleanliness and the service. Worth for what we paid. I wanted to give five star. However, The breakfast buffet don't have many varieties. Not refilled quickly. Hence, giving only four stars.

My boyfriend and I had a really lovely stay at this hotel. The hotel and room itself was very nice and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is about a 10/15 minute walk from Birmingham New Street Station and the city centre, so is a perfect location. I booked fairly early so the price I for the room was great value for money. Complementary breakfast and wifi were a good bonus! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Birmingham :)
