This was our second visit in a month. We enjoyed it so much the first time that we went back with a large group of friends and family only to enjoy it even more the second time. Although not all the group were vegetarian, everyone loved the food, the relaxed atmosphere and the most exceptionally friendly service.

You feel like you have had an adventure just finding the restaurant! Although only a short walk from the Bull Ring or The Custard Factory, Digbeth is one of the more run down parts of the city but don't let this put you off. The Warehouse Cafe sits above The Friends of the Earth offices and is run as a not for profit, community interest business.

We had virtually everything on the menu, including the specials, and all the food was excellent. We effectively had four courses starting with bowls of plump green olives and mixed bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Most of the group then chose the falafels or corn fritters although we also tried the tapenade. All were nicely presented, generous portions with little taste surprises that I will not spoil. Most popular main courses where the hearty burgers of various varieties, halloumi in chip shop style batter and the Curry. We are a family of sharers and tasters and everyone must have tasted everything and agreed that all the dishes were outstanding. We finished with rich chocolate brownies served with berries and ice cream, deconstructed trifle and a rather odd "love it or hate it" chocolate pudding that was the only thing to split opinions within the group. The staff were very careful to highlight the rather eccentric nature of the Kreissler's Pudding.

The Restaurant is not licensed so they are happy if you take your own beer or wine, but there is a great choice of non alcoholic drinks including some wonderful cordials. Rhubarb and Vanilla was our favourite.

The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and friendly. The service is attentive and full of warmth. The restaurant was full, so booking in recommended. There was a mix of couples, small groups and larger family groups.

Came here for our wedding anniversary. Tastey food, friendly attentive staff, great atmosphere. Worth going out of your way to find this place, it's worth it.

If you're a peanut allergy sufferer (like me) be aware that they use peanuts and can't guarantee that fried foods are peanut free (believe they use peanut oil in some things too). Although this meant I had to unfortunately avoid 90% of their menu, they did serve me an extremely yummy aubergine curry, guaranteed nut free!!

Hey there - I remember serving you well and we're really thankful you shared your special day with us at our place.
Just wanted to let you know the situation regarding nuts. We fry in rapeseed oil and having a small kitchen we have just space for 2 small fryers . Our burgers are by first the most popular dish and contain nuts and when busy both fryers have to be used. Our burgers contain peanuts as well as some of our other dishes..
We take all allergies very seriously but we also want to provide a great experience - all I would say is if you can let us know 24 hours beforehand we can usually prepare a few more options for you. having a small kitchen makes nut contamination is a real issue - hence with a little notice we can prepare a separate preparation area to do more nut free options.

regardless - thanks for your review as they really mean a lot to us. Take care and hopefully see you soon

regards

Anthony

If in Birmingham and you’re tired of the redevelopment, take a step from Moor St station and the Bull Ring (St Martin’s has great Burne-Jones glass) into an area not changed and find above the ‘Friends of the Earth’ office this friendly and good quality Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant. Very good food and very friendly service. So do them, yourselves and the planet a good turn by going there. Blue brick railway arches, some birch trees and green shutters create a place of real character. BYO too!

Every meatless ounce of this restaurant was superb. We were really excited to go for our first meal here and it won't be too long before we make our way back!

Our food left us feeling stuffed (in a good way) and with smiles on our faces. It was delicious. We just wished we had room for another course!

The staff were wonderful and clearly passionate about the work they do. They were attentive, caring and friendly. Exactly what you want from a restaurant team.

I can not recommend this restaurant enough. Go, try something new and enjoy the wonderful food.

My first visit with my sister who is vegetarian. I am not vegetarian and was a little unsure, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The waiter was very friendly and welcoming, showing us the menu and telling us the specials of the day. I ordered the tomato bruchetto to start, followed by fish fingers
(halloumi) wedges and salad. T finish of I had Kiesslers` pudding (chocolate mousse, advocardo, banana and balsamic cherries. It may have been my first visit but it wont be my last, it was delicious.
