If you've stayed at a Premier Inn before you already know the score. You have to like purple decor (personally I find it a bit dark) and difficult to manipulate soap dispensers. The extractor fan in the bathroom is quite noisy (which also seems to be a feature at many Premier Inns I have stayed in) Also at this Premier Inn there are no phones in the room, they suggest you use your own mobile phone to call someone if you need to. More like Travelodge than Holiday Inn Express - and by the time you've paid £8.25 each for breakfast plus £3 for the wifi which I couldn't get to work even the price is starting to look 'Premier' compared to those alternatives. I much prefer the nearby excellent Staybridge Suites to this, and the price is similar. Of course if you just want somewhere to stagger to when you get off the train at New Street, this is ideal, less than two minutes walk from the station. Despite the City Centre location, it was relatively quiet but I did notice some kind of alarm going off outside at around 4 in the morning.
