Seriously not impressed on any level & the only saving grace was the quality of the food, although even that took an incredibly long time to arrive from point of service! Essentially, as we approached through the sea of luxury designer handbags, laddened with our own early morning, pricey acquisitions from Selfridges itself, we were nonchalantly met by Giovanni, whom stared at us blankly without a cheery hello or even good morning & he didn't even bother to get up from his seat behind the reception desk, which we felt was plain rude & ignorant! We asked for a table for two; "what for?" He asked!
"Breakfast!" We replied, quite in disbelief at the attitude & tone we encountered! Upon being seated at the bar, we were met by an equally nonchalant, unfriendly Larry, whom despite us ordering a bottle champagne, failed to crack a smile or offer any pleasantries! Given this bar is situated within a high end shopping destination the level of service leaves much to be desired, it was absolutely disgrace & we wee appalled by the total lack of customer service! We observed the Waiting Staff hover about the bar & restaurant area without any sense of purpose or any interest in their job or their Customers & actually all bickered most openly which is extremely unprofessional & highly disrespectful! We ordered eggs benedict & choriz hash brown with field mushroom & poached egg which took almost thirty (30) minutes from ordering to arrival which frankly is excessive, if not ridiculous given there were less than ten (10) Customers! This is not the first occasion in which we have been highly disappointed with the service here & only just two (2) weeks ago we actually walked out after frustratingly waiting in excess of fifteen (15) minutes to get any service after being seated! This really is not an acceptable level of service or conduct & some serious customer service training needs to be deployed & with immediate effect, particularly since the delivery certainly does not match expectation & is not consistent with the ethos of Selfridges or the brands in which it markets! As I began, the only saving grace was the quality of the food when it finally arrived! Proceed with caution as this is one establishment where it can safely be said; "all that glitters is not gold!"
