Amazing place, loads of hands on activities for boys aged 12/13, did not want to leave, the outside area is fantastic, not too expensive and definitely worth tackling the drive through the center of Brum !

If you take your kids to these sorts of places you'll know that most o them have exhibitions that don't work. This place was a refreshing surprise and re-established my faith in children's museums in England.
Here, we tend to pay through the nose for educational fun visits which are really poor; a field with some farm animals and a bouncy castle for £10 per head where u pay to feed the animals or the Space Centre which offers that pay a free return to see an uninspiring array of exhibitions which don't work or are not interactive. They can afford to offer this as they are highly priced and no one goes back.
The general standard in England is poor BUT I thought that the Think tank was outstanding.
I have to say that (please don't shoot me for this) that it is very Americanised in terms of their approach but in doing this it is excellent. Americans do attractions best - sorry but it's true!!
There were an array of exhibitions to attract all sorts o learners, not just the kinaesthetic.
The food is bog standard and is sold at a bog standard price. Again, this is novel. At these places where they have the monopoly on where you eat, the food is usually shocking and sold at a premium rate ( go to The Monkey Forest at Stoke - you'll see what I mean!)
The gift shop is very fairly priced - a key ring for 20p, loads of little token nick knacks for around a pound... Umbrellas for around £5...
The place was really clean, the staff were smiley and there were plenty of them to help if you couldn't work out how something worked. I really felt that they wanted customers to get the most out of their day rather than it just being a job. That's good management for you!!
It is affordable and they have been clever. Because it is so affordable it makes the day out one which u won't have to save too hard to repeat.

There are plenty of things for kids to do in Thinktank but is more suitable for kids above 5 years old. Would suggest to go early for the planetarium show as it is small (seat about 69 peoples). The activities encourage interaction from the kids. Good for learning.

Went to Think Tank and was very impressed with the exterior approach and gardens. The centre is in a lovely modern building and has many interesting exhibits. We noticed that children were engrossed and excited in the many educational activities. Many exhibits encouraged you to take part and lean how things work. We did think that the price of £12.25 was a little high but then we did spend over three hours there so perhaps it wasn't so bad after all.
