I stayed here whilst attending an event at the NEC.The service from the reception was first-rate: very professional, polite and helpful staff. Room was fine with a big reasonably comfy bed. Hotel is quiet as it is quite remote, and I slept well. Power shower good. Slight niggles such as a poorly flushing toilet, an odd smell to one of the towels, I found the a/c too noisy so turned it off, and no text service on the freeview tv which was frustrating given that there is only 30 mins free wifi.
Restaurant service not up to same standard as hotel (I had concerns about some aspects of hygiene and some staff seemed a bit dizzy), food quality not great (self-service breakfast was rather standard) although evening meal was served quickly.
Location is suited to motorists over rail users; unless you get a taxi it is a 20 minute walk from Birmingham International Station. Also as there is nothing in the vicinity of the hotel you will need to book a taxi if you want to eat away from the hotel or go out in the evenings. Also, there was not a clear pedestrian route from the NEC to the Premier Inn that didn't involve climbing a boundary fence on their lawn.
This was my first time at a Premier Inn. In summary I suppose it met my expectations rather than exceeding them, but it was still a pleasant stay overall with no major complaints.
