“Great Location To Explore A Great City”
Reviewed 13 December 2013

I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions and have not been disappointed. The room was clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. It is located in the financial district of Birmingham and ideal for shopping, sightseeing and close to the many theatres, pubs and restaurants that this wonderful city has to offer! It is also a short walk to the new library. The German Market is always worth a visit, very busy but you can always duck out to the many streets off New Street and maybe stop for a drink or bite to eat. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and location. Will return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, won't be as noisy!

Stayed in this hotel whilst visiting the German Market, and also the Status Quo concert at the L.G Arena. Perfect location just off New Street, and very close to New Street railway station. We had not stopped in this hotel before, and did not know what to expect as we only paid £69.00 for the room for one night. On the plus side we could not have been more pleased, as the room (no. 102) was very spacious along with a very good bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and warm, and ample tea & coffee facilities c/w biscuits. Excellent instructions and assistance from the receptionist when checking in & out. Just through an adjoining door off reception, was the bar area, which served up very good value food and drinks (as normal for a Wetherspoons pub). Also, by the time we got back from the concert (which was excellent as usual) in the evening, there was still plenty of time for a few nightcaps, as the bar was open until 01.00 am.
The only negatives we found, was that there is very little storage space i.e drawers, and there was some noise from either the heating pipes (boiler cutting in etc. during the night). But as we were only stopping for 1 night, the lack of space did not bother us, and we had a few too many night caps to hear much of any noise.
All in all, we would recommend anyone to stay in this hotel, and will definately return again soon. staying

If you are looking for quiet then this isn't the place for you but the hotel is really comfortable and reasonably priced. German Market is fab and you are right on the doorstep here for that and other sights - recommended definitely,

We were in Birmingham for the weekend and have previously stayed in the Briar Rose do decided to go back for drinks. It was heaving as you can imagine on a Saturday lunchtime a few weekend a before Christmas, however although we only had a bottle of Presecco it is still a nice place to visit and only just off the shops.

Would really love to stay here every time I come to Birmingham, but too expensive in comparison to the many travel lodges, which when booked in advance are a lot cheaper. I Like the wetherspoon experience love the cheap food and drink, but just too expensive for a nights stay.

We stayed one night at the hotel following a visit to the Military Tattoo at the NIA. We booked on the internet and paid £40 for the room, which we thought was excellent value.

The hotel is situated less than 10 minute walk from Birmingham New St.Station & the Bull Ring and central to attractions..

The hotel is part of the Wetherspoons group and is situated immediately adjacent to the Wetherspoons pub, with direct access from the hotel into the pub.

Food was readily available in the pub and was typical Wetherspoons fare, cheap & Cheerful. Wish the same could be said for the beer, which at £3.30 for a pint of Carling Lager was a bit steep.

The room we had was well equipped, very clean and very large. It had a large tv with all the free view channels and a large bathroom too.

Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the road and there was quite a lot of noise from road sweepers, bin lorries and delivery lorries, which started about 4.15am in the morning which disturbed us somewhat.

However, all in all, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and allowed us to leave our luggage there for a few hours after we checked out to enable us to visit the Christmas Market without being loaded with baggage. We felt it was good value for money and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you don't want disturbing by road noise.
