So a Wetherspoons hotel for the first time...
What a surprise, rooms were spotless, lovely and warm and a bath and shower. The staff were fantastic and check in and out were no problem at all.Smack bang in the centre so location was excellent.Just one gripe I like a red hot bath but the water wasnt as hot as I would like.
Next time Im in Brum I wont need to look any further than the Briar Rose....Recommended!!

This was our first experience of using a Wetherspoon Hotel and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accomodation. The reception staff were cheerful and helpful so checking in and out caused no problems. The hotel does not have parking facilities - but it is ideal for rail travellers as it is just a 5 minute walk from the main station. The room was clean and tidy and the bed, whilst a little softer than our own bed, proved to be very comfortable. The price did not include a breakfast, but it wasn't hard to find somewhere to eat as the pub is underneath the hotel rooms. One advantage was that there was no need to get up early to eat breakfast as the pub serves breakfast till 11:00. The pub itself was the typical Wetherspoon pub serving decent ales and food at reasonable prices. Even though the pub was packed at night - there was no noise problems in the rooms.
All in all - this hotel is well worth considering if you are looking for a budget hotel in the city centre area.

We stayed at the Briar Rose Hotel on New Year's Eve and paid an extremely fair price of £79. Breakfast wasn't included but being part of Wetherspoon's it was no biggie - food was also extremely reasonably priced and delicious. The location was also fantastic - right in the heart of the city centre so there was easy access to everything - all train stations (we walked from Snow Hill station which took about 5 mins), shops, bars and clubs (about 10 min walk away for the clubs)

Check in was quick and easy and we were in our room in no time at all. We booked very last minute (just the day before) and there were only family rooms left. We booked a family room and it was very spacious and had a large window overlooking Bennett's Hill. There was a double bed and a sofa bed, as well as a bath and shower.

One thing that we didn't realise -
We booked the hotel through laterooms.com and we completed a transaction online at the time of booking, using a credit card. However when we arrived, the receptionist told us that this was in fact for security purposes only and that no payment had actually been taken, meaning we had to pay on arrival. This wasn't a problem, but we felt that it wasn't made clear during the booking process so this may be something for you to bear in mind if booking through laterooms.com.

First impressions were that the room was fantastic. On further exploration there could have been a few improvements made - one of the bedside lights wasn't working, the chair by the dressing table was broken and the toilet was a little ummm... 'Dirty' on the outside of the bowl. I tried to record these minor things on the feedback form but the pen ran out! And there wasn't anyone on reception the day we left (New Year's Day).

All in all we really enjoyed our stay and apart from the minor complaints listed above, we were really happy with everything. I'd definitely return and would recommend to friends.

Dear Twiglet88,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your room and your stay with us.

Many of our guests that book online also think payment has been taken upon booking, but as a hotel no payment will be taken until arrival unless you call the hotel directly.

Please accept our apology’s for the issues you noted. Here at The Briar Rose Hotel we set ourselves the highest possible standards unfortunately, on occasions we may fall short of these desired standards.

We hope to see you again in the future.

Kind Regards,

The Briar Rose Hotel Team.

This is a very acceptable hotel in the very heart of Birmingham. Convenient for pretty much any visit to Birmingham.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
Associated with the adjoined Wetherspoons so breakfast is good value as well as the hotel. Overall, I would definately recommend.

This hotel was great value for money.
I'd booked it as I wanted a central location but didn't want to pay a fortune. The room was clean and tidy. The bed was really comfy and I got a great nights sleep. The shower was hot and powerful. Two key elements for me are the bed and the shower and they both hit the mark.
The room was quiet small, with a brick wall view. However as I was spending time in the city and only wanted the room for sleep this was not an issue. I'd definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions and have not been disappointed. The room was clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. It is located in the financial district of Birmingham and ideal for shopping, sightseeing and close to the many theatres, pubs and restaurants that this wonderful city has to offer! It is also a short walk to the new library. The German Market is always worth a visit, very busy but you can always duck out to the many streets off New Street and maybe stop for a drink or bite to eat. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and location. Will return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, won't be as noisy!

Stayed in this hotel whilst visiting the German Market, and also the Status Quo concert at the L.G Arena. Perfect location just off New Street, and very close to New Street railway station. We had not stopped in this hotel before, and did not know what to expect as we only paid £69.00 for the room for one night. On the plus side we could not have been more pleased, as the room (no. 102) was very spacious along with a very good bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and warm, and ample tea & coffee facilities c/w biscuits. Excellent instructions and assistance from the receptionist when checking in & out. Just through an adjoining door off reception, was the bar area, which served up very good value food and drinks (as normal for a Wetherspoons pub). Also, by the time we got back from the concert (which was excellent as usual) in the evening, there was still plenty of time for a few nightcaps, as the bar was open until 01.00 am.
The only negatives we found, was that there is very little storage space i.e drawers, and there was some noise from either the heating pipes (boiler cutting in etc. during the night). But as we were only stopping for 1 night, the lack of space did not bother us, and we had a few too many night caps to hear much of any noise.
All in all, we would recommend anyone to stay in this hotel, and will definately return again soon. staying
