Really don't expect too much from this place. Look at the pictures of the rooms and it tells you pretty much all you need to know. The rooms are small with a double bed and a single bunk, the shower is in the bedroom with a frosted glass door, the sink is next to the shower and the toilet is in it's own cupboard with a door that doesn't have a lock. The mattresses aren't great, and the towels are thin and scratchy. The bunk had sheet and duvet in a plastic bag, so I had to make my own bed. It was all clean though and the shower worked well. I didn't think it was worth £42 a night, but split between 2 or 3 people I guess it doesn't come to much. Don't expect a decent nights sleep though as the place is full of stags and hens who couldn't care less about other guests. I was also told it was quite noisy being road side of the hotel.
Other than the room, the lobby was nice, and the staff knew what they were doing. The car park is £3 for 24 hours and there is about 30 spaces and a few disabled bays. If you can avoid paking under the room windows then do, because it looked like people had been flicking fag-ends out the windows. The hotel's not situated in the nicest area, but I didn't feel unsafe day or night as it's near a busy road.
Broad street is about a 15-20 minute walk north.
If you're on a stag or hen night and aren't expecting luxury, then this place is fine, but it's kind of a glorified hostel.
I am really sorry to hear that your stay at Etap birmingham Centre wasn’t up to expectations. If you want to discuss it further you can contact me by e-mail email@example.com Kind regards, Magali Leveque General Manager
Stayed for one night with 7 friends. Each double room cost £21. We didn't want any frills as we were purely using it to sleep after attending a show at the NIA. It was a 10/15 min walk to the NIA, mainly along the picturesque canalside area (passing plenty of bars & restaurants on the way).
The hotel was full that night but it wasn't noisy (it was a Mon night though & staff said that may not have been the case at a weekend!). We were unable to hire a kettle as they'd run out (tip: try to book one as soon as you arrive). We had read previous reviews on here so took a spare pillow & this was a good tip (thanks to whoever wrote that!) as there was only one each. The bed was VERY comfy though.
If you just want somewhere to lay your head at the end of the day, without the need for all the extras then this is the place to do it. Excellent value for money. I'd definitely stay here again (although maybe not on a Fri or Sat).
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Etap Hotel in Birmingham Centre and look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Kind regards, Magali Leveque
The hotel smelt, the room wasn't a twin as requested. It was in a very run down area. We didn't feel comfortable staying overnight.
However itwas a very nice guy on reception (Shane) and we got a full refund.
Thank you for your feedback we will look into this. Feel free to call me email me on firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss this further. With kind regards, Magali Leveque General Manager
