My son had his wedding and reception here on the 17th March. The venue was lovely as was the wedding, it was formal yet informal and had a great atmosphere and Marie set out the tables etc for the wedding meal in a beautiful way.

The wedding meal was served efficiently and was great as was the evening buffet. All the staff were friendly and helpful too.

The rooms were large, warm and comfortable, the bed was especially comfy and didnt want to get out. But the full english breakfast was waiting so ....

The whole experience here was one I would recommend to everyone, the hotel, the food the staff and the lickey hills, all fantastic, what more could you ask for?

I travel to Birmingham to teach for Cadbury's quite a lot. I live in Doncaster, therefore, I need to find a base local to the factory. I have tried quite a few of the local hotels and can say they were not the best. So I decided to travel further a field in my quest to find a good nights sleep.

The Old Rose and Crown was pleasent, a good size room, clean and tidy, and a very comfortable bed. The staff were pleasent and attentive. The only downside was the lack of connectivity to the internet.

As a businessman I need to be on-line all of the time. I found myself using the mobile phone to tether to my laptop to get on-line. This was a problem as there was poor coverage on the 3 Network and therefore, the signal would drop out (very frustrating).

Would I stay again? Yes.

Thank you.

Room Tip: They have internet in public areas. Ask for a room near to the modem. You might get lucky and pic...

My Daughters wedding Venue was held at this Hotel, from the start, the friendly and helpful greeting we received was second to none, everything was organized to ensure that the ceremony went smoothly. Which it did, there attention to detail and willingness to to help was excellent. The food was of an extremely high standard, and the drinks were reasonably priced. The Room (02) was both comfortable, warm and welcoming, with fruit, tea of Coffey on hand the on-suite was immaculately clean as was the whole suite. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family or friends.

Room Tip: Room 2 has a wonderful view, and is both quiet and comfortable.

Theres not many hotels so close to a city center where you can wake up to a great breakfast and the sound of bird song outside your window with the parklands and woods stretching for miles , such a lovely friendly hotel well maintained and at a sensible price .

I have recently stayed here for two nights, attending a friends wedding. On arriving staff were very helpful, friendly and informative. My room (5) was lovely, warm, clean and inviting with a good size bathroom also very clean and well presented. The bedroom contained a double bed, well dressed! wardrobe, dressing table, bedside cabinets and lamps and a flat screen tv. Tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries also provided. This room is on the front of the hotel and traffic could be heard but curtains were heavy and lined and this did help. (Im from a small village so not used to traffic noise so this was something to get used too) Room (8) also on front, very pleasant fresh and clean and laid out slightly different had a beautiful fireplace to compliment its decor with a good size bathroom. Room (4) on front with bay window, much bigger in size, clean and beautifully put together as are all the other rooms but has a much smaller bathroom and very small vanity sink as space allows but still very clean, fresh and modern. All of these rooms had a pleasant outlook and on the second day we had heavy snow which transformed the surrounding views and brought traffic to a halt.

Breakfast was between 6.30 and 9.00 cereal, fruit, toast, full English, tea and coffee. All very nice and staff very friendly, helpful and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble and all seemed happy in their work. (I have found the morning staff in other places I have stayed quite miserable and unhelpful). As we were attending a wedding service and reception at this venue we along with other guests had the run of the place, which made the stay very personal. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return with my partner in the near future. Thank you to a wonderful team and making our stay most perfect. Heather from Mells nr Frome Somerset

We had a family get together and meal post Christmas and was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and service at this somewhat out of the way bed and breakfast / restaurant i would hasten to add that a pre booking at this popular venue is advisable
