“An Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed 23 October 2010

The Hampton Hotel was a great 5 night stay and would highly praise the hotel, staff, food and room...

I was staying as part of the Phones 4 u training work course at Ford Dunlop and was even givin a free bus pass by the hotel to get there and back.

The morning breakfast was buffet style with 3 types of coffee, yogurts, bacon and eggs, fruit and much more.

Bus stop to Fort Dunlop is 4 min walk from hotel and same upon return and as before hotel has free buss passes to guests :-)

Evening meals can be busy so i found it was much easy to pre-order which you can DO but they dont like to do and if you are peckish day or night you can buy snacks at anytime from the bar and my only complaint about the bar was the £4.50 charge for a pint of lager GRRRRRRR lol.

Absolutely brilliant hotel, stayed overnight 16/17 October. Paid £45.90 for 1 night! The rooms were large and all furnishings were new and showed no signs of damage. ?Free buffet breakfast as part of deal, and if you go hungry its your own fault as the choice was really extensive. Would recommend hotel to anyone. Worst thing was finding the exit onto the car park, had to drive up and down road twice before we managed to hit the exit as we missed it due to lack of signage! But that was no hardship. Only minutes walk from Star City where there are plenty restaurants.

Just got back from a night away in this hotel, fuelled by a trip to the NEC. Only about ten minutes away from there and, on trying to find nearest big Tesco, minutes away from the Aston Villa ground. Great location, easy to find and brilliant rooms. Clean and big. Nice helpful friendly staff. Breakfasts which are included are often hideous but this was very nice with lots of choice. My only complaints were the noise from the bar during the night and the pillows. Other than that I genuinely found it of a high standard in the value end of the Market. And value it provided! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hampton for two nights to visit Grand Designs at the NEC. The location is excellent just a few minutes walk to Star City which is over the road and which has a number of restaurants, cinema, casino, bowling etc. Also just off the M6 near Spaghetti junction, around 10 minutes drive to Birmingham City Centre and about 15 minutes to the NEC. Plenty of car parking on site.
The hotel is clean and modern. The room we had was large and had a huge bed. Good powerful shower and dispensers on the wall for shampoo, soap etc which were full. You get free breakfast which was taken in the cafe/bar area on the ground floor and as well as toast, pastries, muffins, cereals, yoghurts there was also some hot food available which consisted of bacon, scrambled eggs, beans and mini hash browns. You also get free wifi in the room and there was also wired internet in the room which I think was also free. There is also a small fitness room which we didn't use this on this occasion.
In conclusion for a little over £45 a night for two of us on the Alpharooms rate it was great value and would be more than happy to stay here again in the future.

Having seen good Trip Advisor reviews for this hotel, I thought I would give it a try. I had never stayed at one in the UK before, but did stay at one of their sister chain Hampton Inns in Florida back in 2001, which was no more than average, as I recall. However, this UK one was clean and comfortable and had the added benefit of having over a dozen restaurants (and a gym, bowling alley, casino and 20+ screen cinema) less than a 4 minute walk away at the nearby leisure complex of Star City. It is on a main bus route for the centre (£1.75) or it is just a £7 or £8 15 minute taxi drive away (to the ICC). The shower was powerful and large, the bed was big, the facilities were new and worked well & the security was impressive... I really do not have a fault with the place, but if I was pushed I would say its entrance is not all that obvious and took me two attempts to make the turn; it is a trivial detail really. And it is at Star City / Nechells, so you are not in the most scenic part of Birmingham and that is saying something!! On top of this, the price was incredible, £216 for 5 nights in the middle of a major conference in the city (I did pre-book on a non-refundable basis a few months ahead, though).

I use the Hampton regularly as I have regular meetings at fort Dunlop. This hotel is super value for money and the standards you get with them are fantastic ! Bathrooms are huge with the worlds most amazing showers with shampoo and conditioner . The bar area is okay u have a flatscreen tv and u can also dine here with basic tradition bar food at ok standard . Staff are very helpful and give excellent service . All round 7/10

Stayed here with my husband 28 August 2010. Excellent value - good service, large room, very clean, ample free toiletries, hairdryer, huge bed, great breakfast (self service) and all for the princely sum of £40.80. And its right next to Star City should you have the urge, and within a few minutes drive of the Fort. Can't recommend it highly enough.
