Stayed at the strathallan on 6th march we arrived at 16.00 stressed out after travelling via motorway network from liverpool. On arrival we pulled into the car park to be greeted by a notice saying parking was chargeable when hotel tonight whom we had booked with,s website stated it was complimentary. So off we went to check in and were greeted by a lovely lady who told us regarding the parking situation that it was indeed free and only chargeable for non residents and then informed wifi was complimentary and gave us a voucher code for it. This lady was so helpfull and was a pleasure to deal with. As we told her compared to the rude staff we had encountered at our £148 a night hotel in liverpool the previous night. So off we headed to our room.the room was a little small but spotlessly clean.obviously you could nit pick about little things like the windows could do with replacing but remember this is a 1960's/70's building of an unusual design.. Lovely comfortable bed and plenty of hot water ensured we were satisfied with the room. But once again the thing that stands out was the warmth and friendliness of the staff every one of whom we met greeted us with a cheery good evening and a warm smile. I hope if the management read this that the above mentioned receptionist is complimented on her service. I end by saying that next time business or pleasure calls us to birmingham that the Menzies strathallan will be our hotel of choice.

We stayed here on a Thursday night after travelling down to Birmingham for a gig.
The hotel receptionist was very welcoming and friendly on arrival. The room was really nice and very clean and although the hotel appeared busy when we arrived was very quiet.
Overall it was a really enjoyable stay and glad we booked this hotel.

We visited the TGI's just down the road for my partners birthday recently and wanted to stay close by. £50 for both of us with breakfast seemed reasonable for the quality so we booked up

We were both very impressed, staff were polite and courteous promptly refunding the ticket we'd purchased for the car park and checking us in quickly. The room was a little small but quirky and furnished to a really high standard, the whole place being round is pretty cool!

Breakfast was served very early but it was a weekday, the food was hot and tasty and there was plenty of it

All in we were very impressed, would definitely stay again if in the area!

( The hotel is a circular building) The rooms on the outer circle are large, fine and decorated to very high standard. The inner circle rooms are furnished to high standard also, but just on the small side. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants close by if you did not want to eat at the hotel. The breakfast is also very good and the staff are very accommodating. Overall a very good hotel.

Perfect for fans of 1970s nostalgia, this slightly converted multi-storey car park is perfect for those whose company's hotel policy explicitly stipulates anthroposophical beige to make you lose your appetite. If that doesn't work, there's always the restaurant. The room is big enough, the wifi works and fittingly parking isn't a problem, but the decor is straight out of a Mark IV Cortina 1.6L and all there is outside is Birmingham. Food is straight from the Berni Inn cookbook. Just avoid if you possibly can.

Strath01, General Manager at Hallmark Hotel Birmingham Strathallan, responded to this reviewResponded 14 March 2014

Dear Guest
Thank you for leaving feedback and was sorry to hear that you seemed disappointed with your stay.
The building was built in the 1970s as a hotel and was not converted, I also think the architect was quite clever as to ensure that enough parking was made available to all guests in the space made available unlike a lot of hotels in the city centre.
The hotel has had over 2.5 million pounds spent on it over the past 5 years which has added a contemporary feel to the hotel.
You also make a reference to Berni inns who have been going for over 50 years, which is a great testament I believe in this day and age with new restaurants constantly opening. We offer a good variety of dishes on our menu's and believe we cater for most of our guests.
Kind regards
Kevin Williams
General manager

Near centre location easy accessible via bus service. Compact clean room with no view lifts could do with refurbishing. Good evening meal and breakfast selection. under cover parking great. Would stay again.

Room Tip: An outside room is desirable.

The reception was pleasant and welcoming. The manager was lovely however the receptionist seemed to talk at you than to you. The room was lovely. It was clean and the bed was one of the best we've ever slept in, in a hotel. We couldn't figure out how to use the heater and the attention from the staff couldn't be faulted.

We did have some problems. There was a mix up with the rooms but this was soon rectified. We were also kept awake all night from an overflow of water banging against the window. We were assured a manger would get back to us when they came on duty the next morning. This did not happen. We followed up with a call after our stay and we were then contacted by the manager who couldn't be more apologetic and helpful.
