“An excellent conference stay”
Reviewed 10 June 2012

I was here for a 3 day / 2 night stay for training and it was superb. The room (executive double) was very comfortable and spacious, with good internet and a handy iPod dock.

The breakfast buffet gave a good choice and it was all of high quality, similarly the hot & Cold buffet lunch, together with silver service dinner made and it was really good conference catering.

Not too far from Coventry station either, which is handy.

This is hotel standard accommodation as part of the conference centre at the University. Good size rooms with free wifi and access to the university sports facilities, although it is a bit of a walk over to the sports centre. Good range of choice for breakfast.

This is a fantastic place to stay for business travellers. I have stayed here multiple times while on business at the University of Warwick. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The rooms are neat and clean, with all the comforts you need while away and working. Although not ideal for families, I have stayed with my daughter on occasion and the staff went out of their way to ensure we were as comfortable as possible.

Room Tip: Try to get a corner room, or one on the ground floor during the summer.

I have stayed here quite a few times now on a variety of training courses.

You can not fault the service, quality and how could I fail to mention the food. I really do think that this is one of the best the country can offer.

Everything works too, even the WiFi!

I have stayed here twice. The first time, I was very ill, but that was from a sandwich bought at M&S in Southwaite service station. Again, I was here on a two-day Open University residential school.

Reception is friendly, efficient and courteous. No problems whatsoever.

My room is smallish, spartanish and comfortablish. There are no pictures on the walls, but everthing else is there. It is a slightly, only slightly, miniaturised hotel room. It is warm and comfortable. I never sleep well on the first night in a hotel, and this was no exception. That is a function of me though. The only strange thing is separate taps in the bathroom. No mixer taps. That meant scalded hands on occasion. Air conditioning is an open window.

Food was excellent. I am vegetarian, and a colleague I bump into regularly at these events is vegan. Generally we have no issue with food. We are well-catered for. He had one issue with one soup, which was a cream soup for a vegan. He was not convinced it being vegan. His doubts about the knowledge of the staff were kindled on an earlier visit when a member of staff suggested the vegan breakfast could be kippers without the cream. Hmmmm? Spot of education needed there.

Lastly, the conference facilities with on-tap coffee are very good. No issues here – just comfortable, warm, well-equipped rooms. Rooms come in a variety of sizes – from plenary, accommodating seventy, to breakout rooms for six.

This is a quality conference facility.

Been to several work related conferences/ seminars here and found rooms as good as any 3 star hotel; bar area is very pleasant, drink selection excellent (usually with one or two real ales) and food selection in restaurant is just so good!
Recommend for any conference organiser to consider - also recommend as an alternative to nearby 3 or even 4 star hotels!

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are quieter - rooms near walkway over road can be noisy

Very close to the bus stop.Good location for conferences etc.

Arriving on the weekend, I was met with a closed reception - with no way of entering! It maybe worth bearing this in mind if arriving on a weekend. The “hotel” was incredibly quiet, with very few patrons – I only saw two other guests and heard another, which could be slightly eerie if you were so inclined!

The lounges in Radcliffe are fully stocked with fruit, pastries, tea, coffees etc even on weekends. Scarman has free tea/coffee but no extras on weekend days, but have the same provision as Radcliffe on week days. This said, the dining facilities at the weekend are also limited to bar foods at Scarman, unless you venture to Radcliffe for dinner, which is a three course help yourself buffet – of a reasonable standard, though the waiters were quite young and perhaps not as well informed/professional as more mature staff.

Breakfast is served from 7-9am, so quite early if you do not need to be out until a bit later on... On the days that I stayed, there were no vegetarian equivalents for the Traditional breakfast, apparently due to not having a demand for it this morning! A shame as I was looking forward to this, as it was recommended by a previous reviewer. Also I felt herded, as though in a school canteen, when I was "forced" to sit on a long table for residents that were not part of a larger party! Put pay to a quiet, breakfast reading the newspaper!
There is free wi-fi throughout.

The room – a good standard en suite with some toiletries, tea/coffee/biscuits/water, Freeview tv, alarm clock etc. The room has an iron/board and hairdryer, which is great for being able to appear uncrumpled the next day and at your own leisure (not reliant on room service to bring them to you!) A good size wardrobe – with hangers. Clean bathroom, pleasantly decorated room – though still smells of paint! Only niggle – glass shards from previous guest were on the carpet and could have been problematic if I hadn’t seen them but stood on them and the room was not hovered at any point of my stay.

For those that want presentation perfection – Scarman will not be for them, as there are examples of where slightly slap-dash painting has taken place, such as in the bathroom there is paint on the door handles.

The biggest negative tbh was the continuous squeaking heating if you turned it on! When I say continuous, I mean that having a nest of mice would have been quieter!!!

On a totally different note, not at all related to the facilities, but there were lots of members of staff moaning continuously about their jobs, managers, and the rotas. It would be advisable for them to perhaps be a little more discreet.
