Then to find out she was an ancestor! Someone had decorated the statue when I visited so taking a photo was difficult, however she is in the Guildhall as well

It's a nice statue but it doesn't live up to its location. Would surely go overlooked should it be placed somewhere else in town.

“Look out for peeping tom”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

OK its a bit naff but a beautiful statue of a local icon after all there is not much to shout about in central Coventry, its a tribute to 1960 concrete architecture

Be in the square on the hour and look out for the clock and the peeping tom its corny naff but its worth a watch just to say you were there its that bad is brilliant

It will bring a smile to your face and a talking point that the politically correct mob have no yet got to which makes it even better

“She's changed!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

A lovely statue in the centre of Coventry, situated under the old town 'Peeping Tom' clock.

There is a revolution at the moment to get the 'Sky Blues' (Coventry Football Club back into the City, and unfortunately the revolution has decided to adorn her with their signature 'trademark' of the sky-blue ribbons to show their protest.....in fact, they have virtually adorned the whole city over the past few months!!!!!

I assume that she is still like this (it's been 3 weeks now) as the Council are still doing the Risk Assessment to decide how to remove them safely - and how much scaffolding they'll need!

Worth a visit, and there are some great places (the 3 Cathedrals, old ruins, Coventry trail etc) to see while here.

“OOh Nanny, that lady is naked!!”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Going into Coventry city centre with my grand-daugther, We were showing her all the places of interest and although she is only 6, she was particularly interested in Lady Godiva. She look up at the statue in Broadgate and shouted in a loud voice "Ooh Nanny, that lady is naked!" Everyone around us, shoppers and visitors alike burst into laughter at her innocence and the look on her face was a picture. She liked the moving model as well which comes out on the hour every hour with peeping Tom above and the clock in Broadgate chiming the hour. She was intrigued as to why Lady Godiva was covered in Sky Blue ribbons but as a Coventry City football fan I wouldn't go into the whys with her. Thats another story. Lady Godiva is well worth a photo, with or without her ribbons!
