“If you don't like customers don't let them in”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

Joined 2 friends here as staying in the PI next door. Been to that many Harvesters we didn't even notice the slow service or empty salad bar but when the meals arrived they were appalling. Salmon didn't smell very good and tasted even worst. Even the jacket potato was cold. Waitress removed it but as they didn't have any more jackets or salmon recommended a burger (because a burger is so similar to salmon) - so declined. One of my friends ordered a sharing starter for her main. No idea how it was a sharing platter when you had one garlic bread, etc? Chicken wings certainly wernt wings and freezing cold. Waitress cleared the uneaten food away then offered the bill. 20 minutes later this arrived with all the meals still on there. Staff really didn't give a dam about serving the handful of guests they had and preferred to close down the restaurant. One bit of advice - it's not hygienic to Hoover the kithen. Use a brush and mop like everyone else.

Won't be returning

“Better than expected!”
Reviewed 17 March 2014 via mobile

As a family we went to the Harvester for tea over the weekend & it was so much better than our previous visits. It was very busy but we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table instead of the 20minutes we had been advised.
The food was good & there was not too long a wait especially as the food is cooked to order. The salad bar was ok with it needing replenished. The bread rolls were hard.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
We would recommend this harvester for lunch or tea & will go again.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 1 January 2014

Each time we go to the Harvester, we wonder why we went back. Today they ran out of Jack Daniels sauce , previously it's been chicken and chips ! Jacket potatoes were hard on one side, the peas were like bullets. Prices have gone up but with smaller portions. Will not be spending our money there again.

party of 12. found table. got drinks, the waitresses were in onsies, [waiting to finnish to go home to bed]. it would have looked better if they had the usual santa hat and tinsel on, not to go to bed look, [ some too fat. and some onesies worn out]. the first course didn't have enough toast[ 3 tiny pieces, had to rob the salard bar] the main course came 3 times we had to ask for gravy as the gravy had been sprayed on just the meat, some I noticed didn't eat all thiers any way as the pots were dryed out, the table was cleared away while 2 people were still eating there meal [not what u do] the sweets came out over 3 different times over 20 minuits, ice creams first, while waiting they began to melt so they started to eat them, then 2 more came out. then the last few, so we had 3 sitting at that course the people that had cherries and a slab of chocolate cake couldn't eat them they were so tart. we were hurried to finnish and given the bill half way through the sweet course..i surpose I was glad to go in the end as I felt hurried up to eat and go, due to the way we were treated, on a good note the girls were pleasant and only doing what they were told to d0 ,[didn't like the bed look it wasent chrismasie it was hurry up and go look,] the beef was o.k and told so was the chicken, lack of gravy on every meal was not good, most people like gravy on a dinner, took 3 times to get a small jug. the tables were clean, all in all not a good day.
don't like been hurried to eat meal,

“Beware cost of soft drinks”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

Had breakfast there, 2 adults 3 children. Supposed to open at nine am, we went at 0920 and staff seemed surprised that anyone had entered. they obviously don't get many customers at that time. Quite a wait for breakfast. We had ordered and received drinks on arrival and finished them before breakfast arrived. They waiter asked if more drinks were required, we declined . The drinks for the children was £2.50 each for a small soft drink. TOTAL RIP OFF. Caused a bit of a problem for us, due to the kids wanting another.
The breakfast was a little over priced but very presentable and well cooked. No choice of bread for toast and received brown whole grain. Would we go again - no.
