“Great carvery!”
Reviewed 27 November 2011

Tried the carvery - great value for money. The staff were welcoming. There was a good selection of starters and the carvery itself, looked and tasted excellent. Only 12.95 each - suprisingly good value and will be going back again

Don't stay here if you want a good night's sleep. So noisy. I understand it is not really the hotel's fault for banging doors and noisy guests but the noise of the heating or someone using the shower and cleaners in the morning at 7am was so loud!!!!! No biscuits in room, no flannel, no shower caps, broken shower gel holder. Single bed that seemed to be on roller skates and wouldn't stay in the same position everytime you moved in it. Dinner ok, once they got us the right order. Wine so expensive! £24 for a bottle of cheap red plonk!

In no particular order (as they say on TV these days):
1 - A temperature-regulated bath tap that meant that hot water had to be ladled from the basin to the bath with a tooth mug to make the tepid bath water even warm.
2 - Staff who used a bare hand to shovel food back onto a plate which had been hanging off the edge - when challenged she explained that her hands were clean.
3 - A 'buffet dinner' that turned out to be only one course - we were told that if we waited an hour we could order and pay for a dessert off the a la carte
4 - Very loud music from the leisure club so that speeches could barely be heard in the conference room above. When challenged repeatedly they refused to turn down the volume.
5 - Bouncers within the hotel - fine for a club perhaps but not what one expects in a hotel
6 - Staff were rude (on being asked to leave the butter on the dinner table, the response was that we had some already)
7 - Invisible management (it took 45 minutes and several requests for the manager to arrive)
8 - Wine prices that changed according to which bar you were using.
9 - The bill was charged to our credit card before we checked out which enabled them to levy their 2.5% charge on credit cards
10 - Waited 30 minutes for a cold starter to be served at one dinner.
11 - Coffee was obtained from a machine which the staff did not know how to service (eg what to do when the coffee grounds full sign came on)
12 - One coffee machine for over 100 people created very long queues
13 - Only liquid soap in the bathroom.
14 - No bedroom biscuits with the tea/coffee (we were told that these had been withdrawn as an economy measure.
15 - Generally an ill-trained staff in either service or hygiene.

Large hotel and noisy. Bedroom doors banging until early hours. Children running around corridors etc
making a nusiance, whilst parents in gym/bar. Bedrooms clean and spacious. Breakfast area again very noisy not very relaxing.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor room and quiet location to get a good nights sleep.

Whilst visiting family in Coventry recently my partner and I stayed at The Village Hotel. We were delighted with the comfortable room and the very helpful and friendly staff.
We stayed for dinner and we both had a fantastic steak cooked to perfection with a generous portion of sides along with lovely hot fries, Breakfast was very impressive. A huge buffet with freshly cooked eggs, bacon and sausages. We didn't want to leave!!
Excellent value all round. A most enjoyable stay. Keep it up.

I have recently stayed at the village hotel coventry, and i was extremely pleased with my stay!
Me and friends booked to have some treatments and wanted to make the most of the weekend so booked for an overnight stay, the hotel were very accomodating, with friendly staff!
The treatments we had were great value for money and it was fab that they had such a large beauty area as all four of us managed to have treatments at the same time, the girls who worked there were really nice, and we all enjoyed our treatment!
And then got to use all the hotels fascilities, the pool, jacuzzi, steam room & sauna, all in all it made our weekend a relaxing one!
We ate lunch in the pub part of the hotel on the sat and the food in my opinion was above average and very reasonably priced, we had our breakfast in the restaurant which was fabulous and we stayed over for sunday lunch too which was amazing they catered for everyones likes and dislikes, i was amazed at the huge selection of fine foods available!
I have had 3 separate stays at village hotels now and each stay has been great!
I would highly recommend the Village coventry it has been my best stay so far!

Very big hotel but the service was excellent. The room was adequate but too hot even though there was no heating on and also we could hear the (very poor) Talent evening in the bar. The bar was very expensive for both food and drink, although we did have the £3.00 burger & chips deal on the Friday night, it was barely worth £3.00, awful "fries" (worse than McD/KFC etc.) and a very poor burger, I'd rather pay a pound or so more and have decent food. On the following night I tried the "Steak with all the trimmings" for £9.95, the toughest steak I have ever had and all the trimmings turned out to be half a tomato and one mushroom, plus a portion of those awful fries. It wasn't all bad, the breakfast was good, all you can eat buffet with good quality and more of the excellent service.

Would I stay here again? No, probably not.
