A ideally situated hotel, close to city centre and offering leisure facilities.
The staff were very polite and curteous, and the room was clean and the bed very comfortable.
The restuarant offered your normal pub food, but the 6-7pm diner special was excellent value. Three courses for £11, was an absolute bargain.
Free parking, and an onsite Starbucks!

Overall, I would stay again.

Room Tip: choose a room on the 2nd floor, and avoid function nights!! As it could get rather noisy late at ni...

Five of us booked a spa day for my hen weekend. On arrival we were told that the robes we had paid to hire as part of the package would not be available. We were then told our treatment times had been changed due to over booking which meant that the five of us hardly had any time together. Even when we each presented at Spa reception at our (rearranged ) treatment time we were kept waiting for over half an hour with one member of our group being completely forgotton and left in the waiting area, without a robe, for over an hour. When, after having 2 hours of our time wasted, I eventually asked to speak to the manager she lost her temper, shouting that it 'wasn't her fault they were overbooked, it was supposed to be her day off and she had had enough and was going home!' at which she got her coat and stormed off. I really was awful, stressful and a horrid experience. She returned after a while and apologised, upgrading two of hour treatments. the treatments were very good but the whole experience was awful, bizarre and stressful. If you go here please take your sense of humor.

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for your review of the hotel and Spa. I am very disappointed to hear of the incidences that marred your stay and sincerely apologise. Once again my apologies.

Just staying at the Village hotel whilst at a birthday party nearby.

Our room was at the back of the hotel. There seems to be an addition to the hotel which is a separate wing at the very back of the hotel, over a bridge over a road.

The signage to the room was very poor. The lift had no signage in it to know what rooms were on what floor and where reception was. Very basic oversight.

Our room (403) was up a flight of stairs, along a long corrider, over the bridge, down two more flights of stairs. I'm fit and young, but for elderly or tired people, this was a long walk...

We did use the attached pub for a bite to eat. All good, very nicely presented, good sized portions, good selection and a little different. Might be slightly on the more expensive side but nothing too bad.

The biggest problem with the pub is that it has four televisions on every side of the room and had football blaring out the whole time. There was nowhere to eat without having the football in your ears. Even worse when the adverts came on as we all know adverts seem to so much louder than TV. Please give us a separate area for tv and non-tv - not everyone wants to watch it in a pub.

Breakfast was a little chaotic. The layout of the room just isn't the best and there is a bottleneck to serve yourself food - yes it's serve yourself. For a hotel of this size, why is there only one toast making machine, that takes far too long to use and has to have two passes through of your bread to make a decent coloured piece of toast. Seriously the queue for something as basic as toast was just silly.

The rest of food was fine, but they need to rearrange the room layout ot make it more functional.

After breakfast on Sunday morning, we returned to our room only to find that our room card had been disabled. Luckily we caught a passing maid who let us in - oddly without any form of security question to do so. If we'd had to walk back, that long walk...

Overall a pleasant stay, but for such a large hotel, a few tweaks here and there need to be made.

Room Tip: Difficult to say. Rooms at the back will be quieter, but are a long way to walk from reception. All...

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for reviewing the hotel following your recent stay. It is only through feedback that a business can improve and we take all feedback very positively.
I shall certainly be reviewing the signage to the new block of bedrooms and take on your comments about the football in the Pub (although we also serve pub food in the lounge or Verve Bar when we are busy), and breakfast.
I hope that you will consider staying in the hotel again in the future and look forward to welcoming you back

Stayed with hubby and daughter on a Laterooms offer so great discount . Staff on arrival were friendly & helpful, room was clean and comfortable and leisure facilities looked great although we didnt have the chance to use them. Bars restaurants and cafes served a good variety of food and drink and breakfast was tasty, well cooked and plentiful. Only problem was that our room key timed out half an hour before checkout so had to get a member of staff to let us back in - not a big deal though.

Value for money is not what we received on our Silver Spa Package experience. The treatments were short and expensive (10mins for an express pedicure which consisted of nothing but applying nail polish); the lunch was delayed by nearly an hour because the staff had not given us a menu to book our choices before 11am even though we arrived at 10am and the bar staff didn't seem to notice us sitting at a table waiting for our inclusive meal while they served everyone else around us. When the food finally arrived it wasn't worth the wait! Rather than being a time of relaxation and pampering it was an express conveyor-belt of an experience where the hotel staff had no idea of what was going on. What a shame!

superb overall value for money, the one thing that made our stay so great was the staff, nothing seemed too much trouble. Many places I've stayed at although allowing children access to all areas, have made me feel uncomfortable but here they were treated like people. It has great areas for relaxing or exercising depending on what you feel like and the food was good, always check for specials.
There was one problem with a light but someone from maintenance came very quickly and even chatted to the children while he fixed it. I would recommend this place to friends no bother at all.

Room Tip: try and book ahead if possible as there are sometimes good offers to take up
