In general the site is good. The menu is limited. But we had a bad experience on the Saturday when we were advised there was to be a private party but that there was no music after midnight. We suffered screaming children and music until 3am! This could have been avoided by putting in a room facing away from the public area.

I have used the Ibis range numerous times in France, but never before over here. To my surprise this was as clean, as well run and as quiet as the ones in France. The only hiccup was the satnav kept sending me into the Jaguar plant. In fairness the hotel had sent me an email to warn me of this and the fact that road works were causing some problems, but I am glad to say it was the only one. When you get to the roundabout with the Jaguar plant to your right (3rd exit) take the 1st exit, the sign says Racquet Centre Hotel, take that road ad it will take you directly to the Ibis. The beds are massive, comfy too.

Room Tip: We had a couple of rooms there and all were quiet and clean

We are very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay,
And appricate your comments regards the signage to the hotel, at present we are unable to place any futher signage on the public roads due to planning laws
But hopefully once the roadworks are completed service this will improve

We look forward to welcome you back in the near future.

We are regular travellers to Warwick to visit an elderly relative, but on this occasion the IBIS was the closest hotel that we could find that was anywhere near affordable (just about). It was a little tricky to find, partially due to the current roadworks and the fact that we arrived after dark, but when we did get there was plenty of parking and check-in was quick, with the guy on reception being very polite and friendly. However, we were a little disappointed to see rooms advertised for £39 as we arrived, but more on that later.

When we got to our room it was cold and smelt of damp. We could not get the heating to work, but as we had arrived late we decided to get straight to bed. We also had concerns about security, as the hotel block is separate from the reception area and guest room doors are not enclosed in the building ie they just open into an outside area. Having said all of this, the first plus points were the quality of the bed and the quietness of the location - we had a great nights sleep!

The following morning we left our room and went for breakfast. In daylight we could appreciate that the hotel is situated in quite a nice setting, very secluded with plenty of trees, and you certainly don't get the impression that you're close to Coventry city centre. The breakfast area was very relaxed - none of the "we must see your keycard and sit where you're told" attitude - and what was on offer was excellent in every respect. In fact the breakfast was far better in quality and choice than many major hotel chains, with a fine continental and a more traditional UK hot food selection. The breakfast hours were very flexible too - this really was like enjoying a start to the day in Germany, France, Italy or Spain in terms of the food available and chilled atmosphere!

So what was our overall impression of the hotel?

Good points: Great bed and quiet at night meaning a good night sleep. Excellent breakfast, relaxed atmosphere and pleasant location.

Bad points: Not easy to find and get away from, poor ventilation and heating in room, although the reception staff later told us that the heating was on a timer, and my partner would have security concerns as a lone female traveller staying at the hotel. Room a bit quirky, but it grew on us during our stay.

Now onto the major bad point. At £124 for 2 nights (Sat/Sun) this was overpriced to say the least, but what can Joe Public do nowadays? It seems to me that there is no such thing as a budget hotel now, with Days Inn, Travelodge, Premier Inn, Holiday Inn Express etc feeling free to charge whatever they like and whatever they can get. Fine for business travellers, but very depressing for the rest of us. IBIS hotels are probably the worst chain in this respect and have things "stitched up" - once the IBIS Styles are full the prices for the rest of the chain creep up. Throw in the hotel booking sites that are supposed to help us save time and money, but do the exact opposite and you come to the conclusion that we live in a world of hotel price fixing. Hopefully the bubble will burst like it has many before times and the "budget" hotels become affordable again.

Would we stay at this hotel again? Yes, if the rate was £45 including breakfast. However, I doubt that will happen and so next time we visit our relative we will be staying with friends, friends of friends, relatives, the guest room at our elderly relative's address or one of the many private homes offering B&B to ordinary people at an affordable price!

Room Tip: Facing reception for security and perhaps first floor to avoid noise from above.

Dear Sir/Madam

I would like to thank you for your review.
We are very pleased to see you both put Positive & Negatives points regard your stay,

We do clearly put pictures of our hotel on all web sites where possible and mention this is a motel style location. The hotel is staffed 24 hours a day with full CCTV of all bedroom public areas,

Regards the rate this was due to a national event taking place nearby “Silverstone F1 " thus the rate being high.
If you are able to book 40 days in advance on ibis.com you will find some fantastic savings throughout our hotel network.

We look forward to welcome you back in the near future.

Kind Regards
Julian Ward

There are very many things that could have been so much better at this hotel including checking in, checking out, paying for things, the quality of the food, cigarette smoke and cigarette butts everywhere, loads of bird mess on concrete floor by room door, room keys not working in the doors to worst of all, a dog in the kitchen!!

I’d booked two rooms on the one reservation with booking.com. My partner arrived first as he’d been working close by. I was going over by train arriving later on. I was astonished they would only give him keys for one of the two rooms booked insisting that I had to sign for the other room key. I find this strange when both rooms were on the same booking and both in my name. We’d asked for rooms on the upstairs but were given ground floor ones. These were easily changed to upstairs though so no problem there. We asked for doubles but were given twins – although these did become doubles once we’d changed to the upstairs rooms.

The room itself was almost in the trees. Very nice for listening to the birds but very dark. The carpets are a manky colour so very hard to say if they were clean or not. The rooms did appear to be clean, the bathrooms certainly were, although the toilets didn’t flush properly.

Checking out they didn’t seem to know if we were due to pay, or if the payment had already been taken on the card used to reserve. Trying to get a receipt was a very lengthy process, as was paying the bar/restaurant bill. Thankfully we were not in a hurry.

Something I really must warn you about is the food – it was awful. For the evening meal there are five mains; two are pizza, one curry, one burger and one risotto. All appeared to be freezer to microwave jobs. We asked for extra chips, were told they’d run out and would we like pork belly instead!!! Er, no thanks. We opted for garlic bread instead which was like a slab of concrete, completely inedible. We were the only people in there – no wonder!

The fire alarm went off at 5.15am for no apparent reason. As soon as it stopped a man dressed only in his underpants was then running around the upstairs balconies shouting “Fire, fire, get out, everyone out” at the top of his voice. On ringing through to reception to see what was happening, I was told that “someone had been smoking in their room”. However, on checking out, I discussed this distressing experience of having been awoken by an unnecessary alarm and was assured that it was “a fault – something went wrong with it”! They knew nothing of anyone smoking in a room. What is clear is that a good night’s sleep was most certainly not had.

Good points about this hotel (yes, there were a few!): free wifi throughout; many and varied channels on the TV; attitude, effort and pleasantness of all the very young, mainly foreign staff and it’s in a quiet location.

This was my first stay in an Ibis Hotel and will probably be my last.

Thank you for your review As we are committed to great service at ibis hotel. I am concerned on the service you received during the dinner service and will be speaking the the staff concern,
Regards the fire alarm we did have a incident during the night regards some other guest which we delt with at the time but this was not passed onto the morning shift via the normal channels, again this is being pointed out to the staff concern.
Thank you for the comments
Regards
